"My" Ellises migrated from VA to NC to SC, then some went to AL and a smaller number to TN. My branch left AL and settled in TX. So I agree, there are many patterns of migration and several distinct families arrived in the 1600's. -- Nell Family history on WorldConnect: Porter: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-porter_1 Ellis: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-ellis_1
I wish I knew where my Ellises came from to start with. I can trace them to S. Carolina in 1784, when my Thomas was born. Have no idea who his parents were. He ended up in Indiana, then Illinois. And somewhere along the line somebody married into an Indian line because Thomas' daughter, Jane, was half Indian. Marsha
