Debby, your Miles Ellis went to Wilson Co., Tn. He is listed in the 1840 census there. Maybe you can trace him from this. Glenda
Well, I went to Montgomery Co., TN just knowing I was going to find My Miles Ellis and all of his children. I went to the Archives and the library and found nothing other than what I already had. What happened to this man and his 11 children? It is like they disappeared off the face of the earth. Can anyone help?? A nice man sent me the stuff he could find in the ECN. There was only one that connected with mine and I can't find anyone that knows the lady or where she is now. Miles married Polly Bobbitt in Warren Co., NC. They came to Montgomery Co., TN about 1814. The last thing we can find is a 1841 tax list. He paid 1 pol tax so he didn't own land. How did he support his family?? We can not find him in the 1850 census. We can find Ellises living with other people but no Miles. I can't concentrate on any of my other lines because this one is driving me nuts!! HELP:))))) debby

Hi All! I wonder whether some kind person could offer any help or advice in finding the above William Ellis, or more specifically a record of his death. I have VERY LITTLE information to go on: WILLIAM ELLIS was born in London around 1890, he is a brother to my Grandmother Caroline ELLIS, Son of Edward Ellis.. He was married in London and had at least a daughter. He Emigrated to America, with the intention of sending for his family once settled. Family legend states that he sent money to his wife, who promptly "blew it" on a motorbike for her new boyfriend! (nice lady!). William remained in America and "died a pauper". We have no knowledge of where exactly he settled, except that it was in the East somewhere (? probably New York). Apparently his landlady sent word to my Grandmother to let her know of his death. Sadly, my Grandmother is also long gone and we have no way of finding out where/when William died. At a guess, I would imagine he died in the 1950 - 1960's. Is there any chance of finding information regarding him, or is there really too little to go on? With best wishes Angela M Gibson In wintry Sydney, Australia E-mail: angelagibson@optusnet.com.au
