    2. Oops sorry, I sent this to the wrong address. Will try to do better! Hello List, I am new and need help please with an Ellis line. Is anyone familiar with Sylvina Ellis b abt 1841 in IND who married James Snyder b abt 1840 in OH? In 1880 Jasper co. IND census they had children: Sarah, Angaline, Daniel, Elmer, Charles, Franklin, Flora, and Eva. I need to know if they had a dau, ALICE SNYDER born Aug 1852. Since there is no 1890 census and she was already married by 1900 to James HURLEY, I don't know how to find this information. Hope there is an Ellis specialist out there. Thanks, Peggy Dees

    3. Someone recently asked about Greenberry, and he was not in my data. I have since received information that he is a son of Dicey Ellis (b. ca 1822) and Isaac Glover. Greenberry's date of birth is shown as 1846. If you asked about this Greenberry, please contact me and I will give you the name of the researcher who gave me this data. -- Nell Family history at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-porter_1 http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-ellis_1

    1. [ELLIS-L] Arthur and James
    2. Sheila German
    3. Hello, I hope this is an active list!!! I am looking for information on the father of James Arthur ELLIS who was born 3 Jun 1839 Fleming, Cayuga Co., NY. Jame's father was Arthur and do not have a name for the mother. James married Martha Sophia ROBERTSON and lived in Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY from about 1850-1923. He was a gunsmith. We have no other information such as siblings or anything just the name of his father from James' death certificate. The mother must have died early, since James' son did not know his own grandmothers name. I just ran across the name Arthur ELLIS on Ancestry.com and it lists a man in 1733 in Ireland who was into guns as well and wondering if there is any connection? It could have been an occupation handed down, does anyone have an ELLIS relative that was a gunsmith as well?? I look forward to all responses! Thanks, Sheila German

    1. [ELLIS-L] Re: ELLIS-D Digest V00 #159, re: Message #1 James Ellis'Will
    2. I would be very interested in seeing a copy of this James Ellis' Will. I have a great grandfather, a great great grandfather, and a great great great (3 greats) grandfather, all named James Ellis. The they all lived in Tennessee, I believe. The oldest one migrated into east Tennessee when it was still NC, if I have my story straight. I have searched for a Will for James Ellis, Jr., and so far have not found one. He died in 1843. I have found a Will in Lincoln County for an older James Ellis, who died around 1848 or 1849, and he left most of his estate to his wife, and then to his grandchildren. It makes me think that he was older, and his children already deceased. I would like to compare notes with person with the old Will. Thanks. Joyce Park Riggs

    3. I found a reference to this Rebeun in the Introduction to the Brock Letters at: hyyp://home.hiwaay.net/~jrgeorge/stories/ This was some time ago; in case it's not still there, here's what it said: "Britton Marion Brock served as a sergeant in Company F of the 48th Alabama. This company, which was commanded by Rebuen Ellis, was from Blount County, Alabama. Capt. Ellis (sic) company became part of the newly formed 48th Alabama Infantry Regiment at Auburn, Alabama in the spring of 1862." These letters are very interesting. I think that this refers to Reuben Ellis, son of Jesse Ellis, Jr. I don't have any proof of this, but Reuben, wife and 2 children were living in Blount Co. in 1860. Thanks for reminding me of this interesting site. -- Nell Family history at: http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-porter_1 http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=nell-ellis_1
