Hello all Today i visited Newport Pagnell Cemetry, and tried to write down as many surnames (and some MIs). Instead of clogging up the lists, by sending every surname, if anyone is interested in recieving a copy of what I recorded, let me know and I will happily send you one. If you even want a MI for one of the surnames (as part of your surname study/one name study/genealogy interests, I will see what I can do (free of course!) Hi, I am researching this Ellis branch for a dear friend of 86 years. I am looking for the parents and or siblings of Oliver Ellis born abt. 1810 maybe in Orange County, New York. Before or in 1837 he married Elenora Standard and they lived in St. Mary's, Mercer Co, Ohio. In 1857 he moved to Celina and ran a Hotel for 16 years. He was appointed postmaster there. He died 26 of Dec. 1884. Oliver and Elenora had 9 children: Lyman, Roseltha, Susan Riley b. 18 Dec. 1838, John P., James O., P.A., Amelia, Catherine E., and Mahala. Susan became a Mack and Mahala became a Nungester. Both Oliver and Elenora were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Does anyone recognize Oliver or Elenora? I think my information comes from a County or Township history but I do not know for sure as the information has been transcribed and there are a few typing errors. Also the paragraph on Oliver comes inside an interview about Henry C. Mack, husband of Oliver's daughter Susan R. Thank you so kindly for your time. I can be reached at tocats@email.msn.com Cathy

Anita, My ancestor James Ellis (born about 1819) was married in Glencolumbkille Parish, Donegal Co. Ireland. The marriage register says his residence at time of marriage was Strade. Fathers name John. James was married in 1846 and immigrated to New York about 1849, eventually settling in McDonough Co. Illinois. Family folklore says that James Ellis studied to be a Presbyterian minister. Also on the marriage register it lists his fathers occupation as parish clerk. The names and the area seem too similar to not take a second look. What other information might you have. Do you have the mothers name because their was a Mary Jane buried in the cemetery in Donegal (c.1792 - 1882). I am researching Ellis ancestors who settled in Canada. John Ellis was born in Nova Scotia around 1817. I do not know who he married or when but he had 5 children --Hannah, Mary, Scott, Tom and Rupert. He came west to Manitoba with Scott and Rupert in 1881 to homestead in the Ellice Municipality. Tom may have settled in North Dakota. John died in Manitoba ?1896. Rupert married Henrietta Gwyer in 1890 and had 7 children -- Lucy, Bill, Scott, Dorothy, Joseph, Owen, and Ruth. I am interested in finding out where in Nova Scotia John came from as well as who his wife and parents were. I believe his ancestors came from Ireland, possibly County Cork. Does anyone have any information about Ellises in Nova Scotia? Thank you, Carolyn
All the mail about Ellis families is very interesting, however my ancestors came from Co. Antrim, near Belfast in N. Ireland. They settled in Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. Leslie Ellis, son of James, was the first of my direct ancestors to to leave N. Ireland in the early 1840's. Does anyone have any information that ties in with this line of mine? Thank you, Anita
I am desperately searching for a Mary Regina Ellis born on Oct 21 1848. Mother's name unknown. I have two biographies that date her father 1. 1886 gives details of HY Ellis in London, England 2. 1898 gives details of HY Ellis large shipowner in Abbey Road near Woolwich. I can also place this family at Langstone Cliff near Dawlish in 1870. This is where Mary Regina Ellis married Charles Greville Harston.
