There is now on the internet an official source for researching England, Scotland and Wales. They have been contracted by the Society of Genealogist. You may find them at www.origins.net Scots Origins is the official, Governmental source of genealogical data for Scotland. It is an online "pay-per-view" database of indexes from the genealogical records of the General Register Office for Scotland. Birth, death, marriage and census records from 1553. There appears to be conflicting information. There probably were more than one Ellis Family in the area of Allen County in the time frame 1815-1870. There was a James Ellis family in nearby Sumner County during this time frame. A conflict with Mr. Spivey's list of children is the following: Allen Co., KY vital records by Rabold & Price show Lettie A. Ellis b. Oct. 12, 1861, parents James Ellis b. Allen County and Mary Parker b. NC. The name James does not occur in my Ellis line which includes one Samuel E. Ellis married 1815 in Allen County. Was there another Ellis family living there during this time frame ? Was he adopted ? Now that I have added to the confusion, I'll sign off <g> Lloyd D. Ellis
I am looking for information concerning ancestors of James Ellis born 14 June 1818 in Kentucky. He was married 10 Mar 1840 in Allen County, Kentucky to Mary Parker, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Parker. I have found James and Mary on the 1850, 50 & 70 Allen County Ky census and 1880 Denton County Tx. James died the 20 June 1890 and Mary died in 1902 in Denton County Tx. James & Mary had the following children, 1: William J (Will) b 1840 m Rebecca Akers, daughter of Abner and Harriet (Dunn) Akers. 2: Nancy Jane b 1843 m Jonathan Roark. 3: Mary Elizabeth b 1846 m Robert L. Bratton in Allen Co, Ky before 1867 (my GGGrandparents). 4: James M b 1847, never married and died before 1890. 5: Margaret Elma Ellis b 1850. 6: John R. Ellis, never married and died 1881 in Denton Co Tx, and 7: Amanda Jane b 1861 m John Matt Akers.
ELLIS, John b. about 1660 in Wales and d. 1728, Henrico Co. VA m. Suzanna ? Sons Joseph and Thomas, and his father David? His grandson Charles (VA to KY)?? Any info. appreciated and happy to swap files. Walt walt@chesapeake.net

Posting my interests again. Perhaps my gold has been dug since my last visit. Looking for the birth parents of Mary Regina Ellis. born Oct 21 1848. I have information that he father was HY or Henry Ellis. I believe that she had a brother also named Henry. In a marriage announcement of 1870 in the "Exeter Flying Post" she is the second daughter of Henry Ellis. I have information that her father Henry was a large shipowner...perhaps the years 1840 to 1870. As of yet no one has been able to find this family on the 1851 Census of England. I would really like to learn where this young lady was born and what her mother's name was. I presume the London and Devonshire areas because I have information form books that tell me they where from these areas. In the wedding announcement it says HY Ellis of Langstone Cliffs near Dawlish but I wonder if this was a summer cottage. Would appreciate any look-ups. Thanks to all. Hi, just thought I'd post my Welsh Ellis family to go with other UK-Ellis researchers ... Charles ELLIS (ca. 1817-1851) married Anne DODD in 1835, in Rhosllannerchrugog, Denbighshire, N. Wales. Their surviving children were: Elizabeth (b. 1838), Joseph (b. 1841), Benjamin (1843-1879) and Charles (b. 1847). Benjamin married Elizabeth JARVIS (also in Rhos., N. Wales) in 1862, and immigrated to North Houtsdale (now Brisbin), in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, in 1871. Their children were: Charles (1863-1890), George (1865-ca. 1885), Benjamin (1867-??), Sarah ELLIS Hopkins (1869-1964), Elizabeth ELLIS Hopkins (1870-ca. 1810) and Isaac (b. 1877-d. ??) I can account for the adult lives of all of Benjamin's and Elizabeth's children except for the third son, Benjamin, and I suspect he stayed in Pennsylvania. Would like to find out what happened to the mystery Benjamin, and also trace the Ellises back further in Wales. Any connections with anyone out there? Thanks. Beth, Los Angeles, California
