    2. J.Ellis-Newman
    3. Hi Roberta and other Lowestoft ELLIS/WALES/ TURNER researchers. Your Charlotte is the sister of my gg grandfather Edward Ellis b. 18 Jun 1793. Edward and Charlotte were two of the children of Edward Ellis b.1768 at Lowestoft and Frances (Wales) also born 1768. Edward and Francis were married at St Margarets Lowestoft on 15 Sep 1791. This Edward's parents were James Ellis born c,1734 place unknown and Honor/Hannah Smith b.1737. James died 26 Dec 1808 at Lowestoft and Honor died 7 Feb 1819. I believe the Ellises may have come from Kent because of information on Wills that I have and secondly because someone by the name of Stephen H Ellis has reported both our Lowestoft family and Kent Ellises (back to the 1500s) as relatives on the IGI. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate Stephen Ellis. I have not traced further back on the Smith's because there are so many entries. I have, however, traced Frances Wales' ancestry. Her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Wales. Thomas was born Jan 1749 at Carlton Colville. He died 14.3.1809 in Lowestoft. I don't know anything of Elizabeth. Thomas was the son of James Wales and Mary (Turner). James and Mary were married 21 Dec 1731 at Pakefield. James died 10 May 1751 at Carlton Colville and Mary remarried to Thomas Stewart 26 Aug 1751 at Carlton Colville. Regards Jenny

    2. Dear Jenny and other Lowestoft Ellis Cousins, I'm looking for siblings and ancestors and other information about Charlotte Ellis, b. 1811, Lowestoft, Suffolk, Eng., d. aft. 1863. Charlotte m. Henry Hart of Monksley, Suffolk, a sawyer. I don't know when they moved to Norwich, Norfolk, Eng. Jenny, it seems to me that plain chance wouldn't account for the number of given names we have in common. I don't know when Henry died. Their children were Susan Amelia, Frances, Hanna, Edward and Claudius Victor Spencer, my grandfather, and Thomas. Grandfather was given his middle names for David Victor Spencer, a Mormon missionary, from America who blessed him and had considerable influence on the family. So much influence that Susan Amelia with her husband Edward Strange, and their four daughters, set off for Salt Lake City. Utah but didn't get there. Frances came to New Jersey, USA, and Claudius, 14, came later and wound up in Colorado with the Stranges. He started a lifelong friendship with the young William (later Buffalo Bill) on his wagon train and became a wealthy rancher and businessman in Las Animas County, CO. I learned recently that Charlotte Ellis was descended from Robert Hook of Lowestoft. Hook is credited with saving 600 people from drowning in the North Sea. Roberta

Both list Kentucky as their birthplace and Lafayette has Indiana for his. In 1860, he has moved to Gibson Co., Indiana. Has anyone run across this Lafayette Ellis and his ancestors in their research? Thank you in advance, Mike Marten [email protected]

    3. it is a crying shame that these youngsters felt they had no other way out than to take drastic action up to and including taking their own lives. there are millions of youngsters like these in american schools today. they are targeted by the schools and student members of the elite classes. they are beaten ,spit upon called derogatory names. they are laughed at and when school officials condone such action by such comments as turn the other cheek, grin and bear it, ignore the abuse, oh they will grow out of the abusive behavior. then when people rise up and say enough is enough we all say what a tragedy. ----- Original Message ----- From: Harold Tuthill <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 23, 1999 7:56 AM Subject: [ELLIS-L] Re: The poem > Kat > > I gather from your last posting that you must have received some strong > critiscism because of your publication of your poem on the Ellis mailing list. > > I'm sure almost everybody was stunned and saddened by the news of the > senseless student deaths. 1. [ELLIS-L] WILLIAM ELLIS, 1700s NC
    2. LaDoris Weber
    3. Good Morning. This is a resend of my query of September 16th. I have not seen it come up on the list and am assuming it was one of the ones "lost" to the list problems. I apologize to anyone receiving it more than once. Is anyone researching this William Ellis? I have very limited information: William Ellis, b. about 1755, Virginia [undocumented] married Elizabeth Stanton/Staunton [undocumented] no information on Elizabeth died after 1812 North Carolina [undocumented] The above William and Elizabeth Stanton Ellis were the parents of DELTHIA ELLIS [birth date unknown], who married LEMUEL DeBERRY, born about 1757 NC. This info from the bible of William Ellis DeBerry, born NC 1809, son of Delthia and Lemuel DeBerry. A William Ellis was included in a list of five men who served from Newbern District [p. 34, "Roster of N.C. Soldiers in the American Revolution".] Two others listed were Captain Henry Ellis and Shadrach Ellis, son of Henry. William Ellis of Pitt Co was also in this regiment [DAR Application dated 1915, approved, applicant admitted to membership and assigned National No. 103110.] Papers mention one child, Delthia, who was married to Lemuel DeBerry. It has been SUGGESTED that this William may be an older son of Henry Ellis [b 1735 VA?]; died c1796 Pitt NC, wife Elizabeth. Is anyone able to confirm or deny this? If anyone can add to, subtract from, or in any way alter the above information, I would appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks, LaDoris [email protected]
