    3. I agree!!!! I think pictures are a major part of our history, and have often went "picture hunting". Nagging cousins and relatives for any of their dear pictures that I might be able to copy. <grin> I am currently working on my "genealogy album" that will be passed to whoever the rest of the material is passed to. The rest of my pictures, I make sure to write who they are and when it was taken. Anyway, I think your plan of writing at least 1 page a week is a great idea! I also think doing this with memories of childhood or things you have learned, etc. once a week, is a great thing to start. 1. [ELLIS-L] Keeping Family History Alive
    2. This was sent to another list & comes to me third hand but it seems as if it offers some inspiration as well as some good advice. In short: Do it before it's too late. My comments and some helpful hints follow the poem . . . "Notes on a Family Album" by Mary F. Heisey I sit before some photographs of people I don't know. Mom said, "They are your relatives," But that was long ago. She used to get the album out And put me on her knee: Then pointing, with a story line Tell family history. The captions used were all her own, Each time developed new. We never thought to write them down Before her life was through. I see some family features now: I have begun to care. Since Mom is gone, I cannot ask, "Whose picture is that there?" If you have photo's in a book Without a caption, too. Go get a pen and label them, Or you may wonder, "Who?" ------------- I make a practice of assigning myself that I must make a double sided page each week. This is the only way my 4 children & 3 grandchildren will know my grandparents and those relatives who came before me & are now gone. It's only easy for me to do because I keep it very simple & I keep my basic supplies in a basket next to my bed. If I had to carve out time for fancy stuff it wouldn't get done. This way I have at LEAST 52 new pages every year, no matter how lazy I am. If my page of the week isn't completed by Saturdan night thatt's when I sit with my husband & while we watch a movie I complete a page, which takes perhaps 10 to 15 minutes for each side. If you've thought of doing this & have concerns that it will take too much time, I'll volunteer to help you. Does anyone think it would be a good idea to start a group that would be an "encouragement" circle for those of us who are interested in making family albums as a way of keeping family history alive? a fellow researcher, Susan McMackin Reynolds Connect to me & others who share your GENEALOGY interest at http://www.planetall.com/main.asp?s=1043&cid=966275 Need More Computer Memory to keep track of dead relatives? http://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/amnesia/b.asp?id=1062

    2. Cherokelt
    3. I am looking for information on Thomas ELLIS - b. abt 1784 in either Virginia or South Carolina. He is believed to be a half-breed Cherokee. He married Judah (or Judith) Wright (believed to be a half-breed Creek) abt 1812 or early 1813. They were in Spencer Co., Indiana in Nov 1813 and lived in Indiana until at least 1822. In 1840 they appear on the Adams Co., ILL census. In 1850 they are on the Brown Co., ILL census. Thomas & Judah had at least four daughters - two of whom are unknown. One was b. between 1830/35 and the other between 1835/40. The other two are Judith (Judah) A. ELLIS b. 23 Nov 1813 in Spencer Co., IND and Jane ELLIS b. 1823 in IND. Judith ELLIS md. James H. FINCH in 1835 in Morgan Co., ILL. Jane ELLIS md. Anson Henry BLISS in 1840 in Adams Co., ILL. On the 1850 census there are two girls living with Thomas and Judah who are apparently their grandchildren. They are not the children of either Judith or Jane. Their names are Amanda ELLIS, age 5, b. ILL; and either Sarahan or Larahan ELLIS, age 3, b. ILL. I have all the info on Judith and Jane and their descendants & will be happy to share. I would like more information on their siblings and parents and on the two girls listed on the 1850 census. Thanks, Marsha New Mexico

Died in 1930 whilst married to my ggrandmother, Maud. He could possibly be the same WJG Ellis married to Eliza A Mansell on the 1881 census. James Ellis, my grandfather, born in 1899 and married to Florence Chaplin. James died in 1962 and Florence in 1970, both in Nottingham.
