His death was caused by a stroke of paralysis which he had suffered Tuesday night. Mr. Elliott was born in Dark County, Ohio, September 18, 1853 and when a babe of three months came to Iowa with his parents, settling at West Liberty. The father for many years was engaged in the blacksmith trade at that place. Forty-one years ago he was united in marriage with Marybelle Holmes, and to this union four children were born, three boys and one girl. One of the children Laura Belle passed away at the age of five years and a second son William Marshall died at the age of 21 years. The surviving children are: J. E. Elliott of 1391 Sherman street and F. L. Elliott of Creston Iowa. His first wife died thirty-one years ago. Mr. Elliott was again married to Mrs. Matilda Terry sixteen years ago, who also survives to mourn his loss. Five grandchildren, Laura Belle Elliott, Edwin Lester, Jeanette, Dorothy, Mary Ellen and Mary Ada Elliott, with two brothers and three sisters also survive. The brothers and sisters are Taylor Elliott of Albion, J. E. Elliott of Downe! y, Mrs. Mollie Johnson of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Belle Elliott of Liscomb and Mrs. Alice Metcalf of Albion. For more than twenty years the deceased has been engaged in the contracting and house building work. No funeral arrangements have been announced. He was in the 1910 Muscatine County Iowa Census as Winfield S. Elliott 56 born IA occupation Housemover, Matilda F. wife 55 born IA and both parents born IA, Oliver stepson 13 born IA.
