Unfortunately I read all of the LDS films that I had ordered very quickly today and did not find anything significant. I do not know if I will get back to reread before the films are sent back. But I am getting a feeling for the North Carolina Elliott families. Your Joseph was probably of the same generation as my Catherine as she was born 14 Feb 1795. You are probably already aware of the mass exodus of the Quakers from North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina during the first decade of the 1800s. Even if our Elliotts were not still Quakers or were never Quakers, they may have been migrating with Quaker families. The fact above that makes me not just shrug off a possible connection between our Elliotts is the Montgomery County, IN location. >From what I read today there were many Elliott families who may or may not have been related who moved to Indiana during the second decade of the 1800's. But my Catherine Elliott married to Nehemiah McKinsey is said to have moved first to Vigo County. It is said that her parents moved with them. Perhaps other siblings moved as well. Nehemiah and Catherine moved on to Montgomery County by 1822 as their middle four children were born there between 1822 and 1829. The last of their children were born in Clinton County between 1831 and 1833. And both Nehemiah and Catherine died in Clinton County and were buried there. But perhaps it is not a coincidence that your Joseph was married in the same county as they were living--close to the same time.
