    3. I am a new member to this list. I have not yet had time to read past messages in the archives. I have looked at Yvonne's most wanted pages and corresponded with several of you who have posted there. I am asking for a little help this morning. My interest in the Elliott family begins with Catherine Elliott when she marries Nehemiah McKinsey in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio 28 March 1816. Catherine is said to have been of lawful age by the oath of Joshua Burnam. (doggone it! no father mentioned) I have looked in Hinshaw and no mention is made of Catherine being dismissed from the Quaker church because of marrying out of the faith so that fact is probably not because she was marrying outside of the Quaker faith. But this area of Ohio was settled so heavily by Quakers and families who had intermarried Quakers I suspect that the Elliotts had been Quakers in NC at some point in history. One of the censuses that I have looked at and a book on McKinsey family history says that Catherine was born in NC. This researcher says that her father was Abraham Elliott and her mother Rachel. With the help of the NC maillist I have seen that there were five Abraham Elliotts living in NC in 1790-1800 time period when Catherine is said to have been born. So I do not doubt this fact even though I have not yet proved it. Three Abraham Elliotts were living in the Randolph County area in 1790 and one in Perquimans County. By 1800 there was one in each of the two counties. Byt 1810 the one in Perquimans had disappeared leaving only the Abraham Elliott in Randolph. So it is possible that Catherine's father could have come from either county. One more thing that I might say in introduction to my line of Elliotts is that in my data base I have the following: After Nehemiah was mustered out of the Ohio Militia at Waynesville, Ohio and his marriage to Catherine Rachel Elliott, they along with her parents, migrated to Indiana in 1816. Nehemiah took up his Bounty Lands along the Wabash River in Vigo County, Indiana-- Between Terre Haute and Vincennes. They remained there until about 1822 when they moved on into the wilderness that was Montgomery Co. Ind. They settled on Sugar Creek about seven miles from where the city of Crawfordsville now stands. I do not know for sure if more of Catherine's family went along as well...nor if her parents remained with Nehemiah and Catherine..I seem to remember that the author of this book knew where they were buried, but I do not have that information at my fingertips. But I have noticed that MANY of the Elliotts from NC ended up in Indiana. I am getting ready to go to my local LDS FHL today to read microfilm and fiche that I have ordered about the NC Elliott families hoping to get some clues as to whether all of these families connect back to the same original immigrant or possibly brothers who immigrated together. The help that I am asking is for any of you on the mail list to let me know if you research the same lines and point me in the right directions on the archives and any websites that might give me a headstart on my research. Looking forward to chatting with many of you over the next few months. I am sending a second e-mail listing some of the materials that I have ordered and will be looking at for the next couple of weeks. Thanks Marsha in Wv
