    1. [ELLIOTT] John Elliott of Pennsylvania "late 17th century"
    2. I have obtained a copy of an old letter that contains the quote shown below. It apparently was family tradition -- no sources are provided! Does anyone on the List have any "documented" evidence to support the following paragraph? Or, can you claim any of these as a proven ancestor? "In the latter part of the 17th century one John Elliott came from England with the Quaker followers of William Penn and settled in Pennsylvania. This emigrant had three sons: Benjamin of Pennsylvania and Jacob and Abraham who removed to the Carolinas...." The branch of the Elliott tree with this tradition, are the descendants of John Elliott and Susannah Claver Elliott. John and Susannah were married in Rowan Co., NC, 18 Sep 1787. The "tradition" handed down is that this John Elliott was a grandson of Jacob Elliott mentioned in the preceding paragraph. Any facts that would help prove or disproved the claims of the family story would be greatly appreciated. Dan Elliott
