    1. [ELLIOTT] Patrick & Catherine (HAWKSBY) ELLIOTT
    2. Jim-Almquist
    3. Patrick & Catherine ELLIOTT emigrated from Ireland (perhaps Enniskillen, Fermanagh) to Ontario, Canada about 1855 with 4 children; Hannah b. 1835 (m. Henry HOLMES) John b. 1836 (m. Mahala ABRAMS) Allen b. 1846 (m. Georgiana HALL, d/o Giles) Mary A. b. 1854 (m. Leen CHAFFIN) That family immigrated to Jefferson County, NY about 1861 or 1862, and settled in Lorraine Town, near Adams Town. About 1873 the family moved to Harlan County, Nebraska (NE) and were among the earliest settlers to acquire homestead property. They were instrumental in establishing and developing the Freewater area in Antelope Twp. John Elliott moved to Bird City in Cheyenne County Kansas (KS) for a period of time in about 1883. The entire immigrant family is buried in Freewater Cemetery just East of Ragan in Harlan County, NE. I have always wondered why I have not found other "Irish Elliotts" with the name Patrick - it would seem to be a good Irish name.
