I have not gotten far back into my Elliott line- only to the mid 1800s. My family lived in Southeastern virginia in the region called the Albemarle region which is the current northeastern North Carolina. My Grandmother was born in about 1870 in what is now Perquimans County. She was named Lillie Belle Elliott .( After she married Joseph Thomas Brinn she changed the spelling of her name to Lilliebelle Elliott so that she could keep her entire name,) Her father was Humphrey Jack (or John Humphrey) Elliot who was the son of Richard Elliott and ?. ( I believe Richard's 2nd wife was named Martha. "Grandaddy Dick" and "Aunt Martha" raised Grandmama Lilliebelle. The mother of Lillie Belle was Arabella Virginia Winslow- the daughter of Timothy A Winslow and Martha A Cofield. Arabella Virginia was born in 1854 and died in 1881 when Grandmother was about 5 years old. Arabella was supposedly married three times in her short 27 years. Richard Elliott was her second husband, and he died in the mid 1870s. I have found husband #3- Andrew Proctor, but I can't find husband #1.( He may also have been a Winslow.) maybe you can see why I haven't gotten back very far through this confusing jumble- Elliott or Winslow. Can anyone help this old lady?
