Would suggest you read the book, "The Elliots, The Story of the Border Clan", by The Dowager Lady Eliott of Stobs & Sir Arthur Eliott 11th Baronet of Stobs. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2007 12:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Elliott] William Elliott born 1805 in athlone. - Scottish? My name is Karen Truempy. I am also interested in the Elliot line, and thought I would write since you mentioned that they were supposed to be decended from a Minto line. My late mother-in-law was a Minto, and her Minto line goes back to 1825 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, England. My husband remembers hearing that the Mintos were related to the Earls of Minto (the Elliots) but I haven't been able to find any proof of this. I was wondering if you might have any info on the subject. Thanks!
