He sometimes went by Thomas. He may have been married two or three times. He may have had a wife named Isabelle Farlin. He married his last wife, Fatima/Tima/Tina Stewart, in 1865 in Decatur Co., Indiana. He had at least 11 children. Some of them were born in Indiana, some Illinois (probably Champagne Co.) and some in the area of Eureka amd Allenton in St. Louis Co., Missouri. Most of his children remained in the St. Louis City and St. Louis County area. Benjamin's children were as follows: Frances (b. about 1867) m. George Eoff Martha "Ellen" (b. 1869) m.
