My name is Joyce, and I live in Virginia. I'm addressing this query to you because I've been searching for Elliotts in Pennsylvania that may be related, and you seem to have a good deal of knowledge about PA Elliotts. However, I'd be grateful for feedback from anyone who may have information I'm seeking. I believe my GGG grandparents were John and Eliza Elliott. Both were born in Ireland--he in about 1814 and she in about 1819. Based on the dates I've found, they had to have come to America sometime in the late 1820's or 1830's. They moved to Virginia in 1844 or 1845. The 1860 Census showed them living in Marshall County, Virginia, and his occupation as merchant. At that time they had 7 children--Mary and David (both born in PA) and Eliza, Samuel (my GG grandfather), John, Joseph and Eleanor (all born in VA). The oldest child was born about 1842 and the youngest about 1856. Ever heard of any of them? Neither of my grandparents liked to talk about their pasts for some reason, so I've never had a lot of info to go by.
