He married Martha Poe, daughter of Thomas Poe from Anson Co. In researching the Anson & Union Co sites I found a number of deed records with the names of John Elliott, Robert Elliott, William Elliott, Isaac Elliott. In 1837, John Elliott sold a tract of land to William Elliott and it had a Laban Elliott and Isaac Elliott listed as chainmen of the survey crew on a piece of land sold by John Elliott Sr. In looking at census records from 1790 thru 1830, I found the Elliotts and the Poes (Simon, Thomas, etc) living in the Capt Poe District of Anson County around Lanes Creek (according to deeds). The Poes migrated to Fayette Co, AL sometime around 1830-1840. According to Laban Elliott's obituary, he moved to Alabama around 1840 and according to his first daughters tombstone, she was born in Fayette Co., AL. I believe this Laban Elliott found on the Deed may in fact be my GGG Grandfather. ! Laban and the Poes moved on to Mississippi and then settled in White County, Arkansas by 1860. I would appreciate any information on any of these Elliott families but especially any insight into Laban Elliott. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
