    1. Re: [Elliott] Daniel Elliot of Salem Mass
    2. Melanie is unable to answer at this time and asked that I respond. We originally found a Daniel Elliot of Ide, Devon, UK in the IGI section of Familysearch.org but after researching parish and land records of 1630's-1680 we found that this Daniel did not have a son by the name of Daniel and was there until late 1670s. We looked elsewhere. About 8 of us who claim to be descendents of this Daniel of the Witch Trials had DNA studies done which confirmed our connection. Also found that some identical DNA markers to be with two Irishmen whose families came over from Northern Ireland in late 1700's. Our DNA markers also are almost identical, minus one or two/25 markers, from old Scotch-Irish and Scottish groups of Elliots. We found a Dandl Ellot (mid 1500's) of the clan area in Scotland who was exiled from Scotland to the new Ulster Plantation area in 1608 and became known as Daniel Elliott. He was among 2000 Scottish men and their families that were new plantation members by 1620 as recorded on the Prynnar records. While in the colonies, this family was always found to be living among other Scotch-Irish families. So, after about 10 years of study, that is where we now are. 3. Linda, I have had my DNA tested, with the results posted FamilyTreeDNA.com. Can you give me the names of some of the matches you have to Daniel Elliott? I have only traced my line to Andrew Elliott in PA circa 1780 to 1823. You can reply directly to chukndee@ix.netcom.com if you wish.
