Pat, When and where was your Thomas around? My GGGgrandfather was Thomas Elliott, born 6 Jan 1807 in York County, PA, died 24 Apr 1879 in Elkhart County, IN. I know his father was Andrew Elliott, born UNKNOWN, died about 1823 probably in Cumberland County, PA. His widow, Elizabeth Elliott (Maiden name unknown) moved with 8 children (several grown) to Stark County, OH, in 1823. She later migrated to Northern Indiana with several of her grown children and their families. Elizabeth died 26 Apr 1844 at age 65. So far, Andrew is my stone wall. Good luck. what a minute....Chuck, you have an Andrew who died about 1823? I'm looking for my Thomas' brother named Andrew. Thomas died about 1818 and was the middle brother probably Andrew younger. Have I talked to you about my Elliott line before? Supposedly, he and brothers were in PA after arrival and then they moved to OH to far away from Thomas to be in contact. My Thomas was in Jefferson County. His wife's supposed brother William was in Cochocton, then mine moved to Wayne/Medina. What I have been looking for is the PA community that they spent about 10 years in after arriving in the US. They arrived in PA about 1790. Sure wish you had more information about your Andrew.... This is pretty interesting stuff. thanks, vera ----- Original Message ---- From: Charles Elliott <chukndee@ix.netcom.com> To: elliott@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, January 5, 2010 1:58:48 PM Subject: Re: [Elliott] Is Elliott English or Scottish? Does anyone have a Matthew Elliot b about 1820 place unknown, parents unknown, md Julia Marquis in 1843 in Knox Co, OH, d Harrisburg PA in 1856. Had left his family. They were notified of his death by a telegram from Sheriff of Harrisburg. Why was he in PA? Why was the sheriff involved? My grandmother who was his grandaughter, told me she thought his father was named Patrick. Anyone have anything on this Matthew, my gr gr grandfather.
