John Elliot was the first Elliott to come to America in 1733. He helped Ogelthorpe establish the colony at Savannah. He was a cartographer who was paid by King George to explore GA and set up trade with the Indians. He mapped out all of Clayton, Henry, and Fayette counties. He established trade with the Cherokee and married a Cherokee woman. They had 15 sons together. From their union came all other American born Elliotts.
