In 1610 many border Scots were sent from Scotland to Ulster Plantation in the north of Ireland. Many Elliots were sent, in Scotland their name at that time was spelled Ellot. In Ireland the British changed the spelling to Elliot. Some Ellots were sent to Ulster and some Donegal. Your original roots may be Scottish. My grandfather, Henry Dixon, was from Ballintra. My grandmother, Cassie Elliott, was from Drumawark/Pettigo in Templecarne Parish, about 10 miles from Ballintra. Her mother was Catherine Hilliard, so that is the Elliott-Hilliard connection I'm tracing. > >- Jane > andixj@hotmail.com > >Important Note: >The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
