I just signed up for the list and am listing my Elliott's below. They lived in the area of the Cherokee Tribe during the late 1700's and early 1800's, which would be Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Most of my information comes from microfilm records of various Indian Rolls at the national archives. I have more information on some of the descendants if anyone is interested. I have William "Billy" Elliott, born around 1750. He lived in Greenville District of South Carolina. Married to Cherokee woman named Jemima or Gemima. Billy fought as an Over Mountain Man at the Battle of King's Mountain. He could have come from Virginia, but some vague info that I have says he was a Scottish Highlander. I have been told that all Elliotts were Lowlanders. This leaves me "high and dry" or should it be "low and dry". Anyway, he had a son named William John Elliott who ended up in McMinn Co., Tenn. I have all the info from there. Anybody heard of my "Billy"?
