Surnames: Elliott Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhU.2ACEB/2582.2738 Message Board Post: Larry: I don't see a name that would relate to my ancestor who was John C. Elliott. I am estimating him to be born about 1817, but I do not know where. He married Sarah Chivington on Jan 10, 1839 in Warren County Ohio, which is very close to Preble County (one would need to cross part of Butler County or Montgomery County to get form one to the other.) He was my great great grandfather. He was in the Civil War. Two John C. Elliotts fit his profile who enlisted in Ohio. One enlisted in April 1861 at age 44, one enlisted In 1864 at age of 48. Could it be the same person both times? The first was mustered out a few short months after he enlisted, so was the second. I would like very much to know where he came from, but I haven't found a single clue so far. Perhaps if I could actually see some of the records, his birth place would be mentioned. I got my information from the net. Their daughter Eleanor, married a Stephenson in either Warren County or Butler County. They were my mother's grandparents. Eleanor is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio. So are my grandparents and parents. I do not know where John C. is buried. If you have any clues to John C.'s origin, I sure would appreciate it. I just started on the Elliotts yesterday and have worked for about 20 hours getting nowhere. Good luck to both of us.........June Thomas Davis
