Sunny, Archibald Elliott, of the Cherokee Elliott's, is the son of John "Jack" Elliott. Here is the information I gathered from the Guion Miller Roll, Application # 1396 of Hiram Elliott, who is the son of Archibald. Hiram Elliott and 6 children, Big Cabin, Okla. Admitted. Applicant claims his Indian descent through his mother and father and is enrolled by the Dawes commission #8422. His father was Arch Elliott and Arch Elliott derives his Indian blood through his mother, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Foreman. "Elizabeth one (sic) John Elliott, who came to the Indian territory from Georgia about 1838. John Elliot was a white man and was killed in the Territory in the forties. He had several children among them were James, Walter, Abigail, George, Nannie (who married a Carter) and Sallie or Sarah (who married a Springton)................" .SIGNED; Hiram Elliott, Vinita, Okla., Oct 14, 1908." Sounds promising, doesn't it? If you would like a copy of the document, I think I might have it somewhere in my files. Carolina, possibly married to either Mary Ann Allen, Rachel Smith or whomever. Note that there is an Archibald Elliott b abt 1824 in the Cherokee Nation East, spouse Rachel Smith, marred abt 1844 in Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma, this Archibald died 1894. I am related however through channels to a Nannie Elliot b abt 1822 Cherokee Nation East (Georgia), married to Ben Carter in 1851, Cherokee Nation Oklahoma. I cannot connect the right Archibald to this relation. Archibald (the gg-grandfather one) has known children as follows: 1. George V. or W. Elliott b 1838 in Mississippi, died c 1838, possibly in Tamaha, Oklahoma..wife Martha Peoples. Martha came into this marriage with a child, Melvina, who married a W. P. Woods and had at least one son. This was my elusive gg-grandfather and his life remains the mystery of the family. He was once a minister in the Tamaha, OK Baptist church..left his wife for another lady and Martha took her children to live with their eldest son, James Randolph Elliott until her death. Apparently dear old George decided to try to return to his wife in their late years but she wouldn't take him back. So much for George and his location from that point on. 2. Martha J. Elliott b 1841, Mississippi 3. Andrew Jackson Elliott b 1844, Mississippi 4. William F. Elliott b 1845, Mississippi. I descend from dear old George and Martha Peoples. Stories say that Martha was from Chicasaw Co, Miss. and they lived in madison Co. Mississippi prior to moving into Jenny Lind, Arkansas. They had six children: 1. Melvina "Elliott", b 10-6-1849, died 1915, married W. P. Woods b 4-12-1846, died 5-1-1883. Melvina was a stepchild to George Elliott and his wife, Martha Peoples ( I have no clue if Peoples was her maiden name or her marriage name from her first marriage). 2. James Randolph Elliott b 9-19-1857, Madison Co. Miss, died 2-10-1938 (buried Skiatook, OK), wife Georgia Ann BYRUM b 4-10-1866 Sebastian Co, Ark, died 1-21-1959. First married to Lucy Tyler and there were at least 3 children that I know of from the first marriage. His marriage to my grandmother, Martha Ruth Elizabeth Davis gave me my mom, their only child. OK you guys, its been about ten years plodding down this foggy path now..some of you have to be related to this family..somebody has to know something..we were not born aliens and we haven't fallen off earth yet, so somewhere there is a connection to all these SC, Miss, Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma southern route Elliotts. I know it creates absolute havoc to even mention this, but if everyone would just re-post their families because we have new people on board now..maybe we can connect all the dots? And Roland...that means you too, because I just know in my infamous gut that somewhere our families connect, all rascals to be sure, following your footsteps. To our listmaster, a definite apology for such a lengthy posting..but once a year, we just need to do this. Keep up the good spirits..Sunny (azuredaze@aol.com). ==== ELLIOTT Mailing List ==== Rootsweb Surname Resource Board: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/e/l/ELLIOTT/
