    1. [ELLIOTT] Origin of the Elliott's in America
    2. Tim Elliott
    3. My research indicates that one of the first known Elliott’s in the Americas was a John Elliott that I found in 1624 (Over the River) Virginia muster. I have not found any further references to him. Additionally, there were 3 brothers, Jacob, John and Philip. Jacob and John “Apostle to the Indians” arrived in Boston in late 1631 aboard the Lion. Philip came in 1635 with his wife and family aboard the Hopewell. All 3 brothers came from Nazeing, England. One thing I have learned through my genealogy research is that our ancestors where not very consistent in the way they spelled their names. I have found records from my own family with the last name spelled Eliot, Elliot, Eliott, and even Ellet. BTW, I am stuck on my GGG-Grandfather John Elliott. John Elliott (born ~1790 assumed died late 1861 or early 1862) came to Indiana from Augusta, VA. in 1831 with his wife, Rebecca (Steele) Elliott (born 2/18/1801, in Augusta, Virginia, and died May 21, 1844) and son James S. Elliott. They settled in Tippecanoe County, Indiana in the Washington Township area. There are numerous references on Rebecca's linage but I can't pinpoint John (I think the name is just too common). Any help is appreciated. Tim Elliott telliott@gte.net
