My g-g-grandfather, Samuel Elliott, was born in South Carolina (but not the same as the one you mention - he was Samuel Douglas Elliott and was born, I think, in about 1854). But his father, whose name is not clear on the certificate I have, came from Scotland. If I manage, from the distance of Australia, to track down the father's name and can find out more information about where he came from in Scotland, I'll let you know. I've been to the border area of Scotland from whence came the Elliotts - it's bleak and 'dour'! Best Lorraine Elliott
