Folks Thanks to a wonderfully helpful researcher in the Louisiana State library, I now have a little more information on my Elliott line in the US and an keen to know if any of this sounds familiar to anyone. My g-grandfather, Samuel Douglas Elliott, was born in South Carolina c.1854 and married Louisa Keller (possibly also known as Elizabetha Margreta) in New Orleans in 1893. They had at least three children - Marcus (my grandfather), Mary and John(?). Samuel's mother was Mary A. Douglas from Virginia. His father came to South Carolina from Scotland: father's name is not clear on the material I have but it looks as if the first name begins with N. The second initial was J. Any information most welcome (as well as any advice on how to chase up certificates in South Carolina!).
