My grandfather James William came to Texas I am assuming after the civil war from Mississippi. But he married a Cora Berry in 1901. His older brothers name was John A. Jr. They settled in Nacogdoches County. Their father and mother was John A. Sr. and Mary McDaniel. I can find no one beyond this. I have entered all of my family in the Elliott Clan Society USA but they have not been able to find a connection either. There was also a Mayfield Elliott and his brother living in Nacogdoches County in the late 1800s or early 1900s in the census next door to each other. Since the names are the same there may be some relation here. There is a complete Elliott Genealogy starting with a Moses Elliott GA>TN>AL whose later decendentds settled around Zavalla in Angelina County close to Lufkin and just south of Nacogdoches County. James and Cora married in Lufkin. I am convinced they are all related but cannot make the connection. I will happily look up any of these Elliotts for someone if they contact me. Some of them ended up going to Houston or other areas during the depression and you may find more answers there. Hope this helps someone.
