I have not verified these notes, but maybe it will give you an idea where to search. In the first message I left I said this family was in Md, but that was the Joshua James family that is connected to this line. Also this family is in Limestone Co. as well as Lauderdale. This Hicks family according to Mrs. G B Plott was from Edgecombe Co NC, then to Tenn near Knox Co Tn.According to Mrs. Plott (prob. deceased by now) Hynson Rogers Hicks was the son of James Hynson and Mary Rogers Hicks. They were md before 1790 Edgecombe Co NC census shows James md. Hynson born ca 1790-92. James died Jan 1850 in Limestone Co Al. He md 2nd _________Holland. Mary Rogers mother was a Knight and believed married Samuel Rogers. Father died when she was about 4 or 5 yrs old. And brother Sanuel Rogers disappeared. No one knows what happened to him. Her father died during a sonow storm. She says James Hynson (Hinson) was the father of Richard N Hicks, ?Ester Hicks and Rebecca Hicks who md Samuel Edmundson. Richard N Hicks md Lucinda Elliott 20 May 1916 Knox Co Tn. Samule Edmunson md Rebecca Hicks 2 Dec 1821. Richard N Hicks and Lucinda Hicks deed of trust in LimestoneCo Al dated 4 Jan 1851. Children: Rebecca A md James C A Wilkerson Lucinda J md ? "My gr gr gr gr Grandfatherwas a Mr. Knight of England. He was a very rich man" the owner of ships and a wharf in Eng. His dau, the only heir, ran away with a Mr Rogers when their ship landed in America. They were md and settled in Mass. abt.40 from Boston, 1770 or 1779? Rogers froze to death in a snowstorm, somewhere between his house and Boston. He left his wife (this Knight girl) with their 2 children (a boy and a girl). The girl became of age and md James Hinson Hicks. They lived ca 30 mi from Knoxville, Tn. 1 of their dtrs Rebecca Hicks md Samuel Edmonson, whose father came from Ireland. They came down the Tenn River in a houseboat, landingat Brown's Ferry in Limestone Co (1830-31) in Al. Their dtr Elizabeth Catherine Edmondson, md John Parker Varnell, whose father was Richard Varnelland mother was Artie Fowler Varnell. Their son was my father. His name was Artie Fowler Varnell. Al dated 28 Oct 1827, probated 10 Dec 1927
