Posted on: Elliott Obituaries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/ElliottObits/10065 Surname: Elliott ------------------------- Sister Elizabeth Elliott departed this life at the residence of her son, Thomas Elliott, in Lagrange county, In., on the 20th of April, 1844, aged 64 years, nine months and 27 days. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church forty-seven years. She emigrated from Pennsylvania in the years 1823, a widow, with eight children, and settled in Stark County, O., where she remained until the fall of 1843, when she removed with her son, Andrew Elliott, to Lagrange county, In., where she died after an illness of about two days. She departed this life in great peace. A few minutes before she died, she selected a hymn to be sung. When dying, and as her voice failed, she raised her hand in token of victory, through the blood of the cross. Her funeral was preached on May 9th, from Revelation xiv, 13. I have given this picture thing alot of thought today and after reading all the thoughts all you nice people sent, I have come to the conclusion that he doesn't have much Elliott blood running through his viens. I have not met one mean Elliott. I guess he fell from the wrong branch. The photo is of my GG aunt and I cherish it. I have another with her and my GG grandfather and two other sibblings that I am going to put on the site as well. I am going to see what others I have on disk and put those up also. 2. As all of us have probably run across this issue when trying to make copies of photos. The rights of a photograph belong to the photographer not the person in the picture or a descendent of that person. That's what enable the tabloids to print photos of the "stars". Sorry to hear that this guy has dampened your spirits. Jeanne

    3. Posted on: Elliott Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Elliott/10782 Surname: ------------------------- I believe I've seen information you've posted on Warrens and Elliots in Portsmouth, NH. I'm descended from Walter and Joanna Elliot (daughter of Richard Elliot) Warren. Most of the information I have came from another Warren researcher, Warren Joy. I did spend an afternoon in Portsmouth last year in the public library. I spent most of the time going through what cemetery records they had but I didn't turn up any early Warren or Elliot burials. I'll go back to my notes and organize what I have and post in a couple days and you can compare with your information. David Isermann

    3. I assume your gg-aunt is deceased. Alive, I could understand. And, it isn't as if you are profiting from this or exploiting the woman, or the family, in any way. To set your mind at rest, why don't you contact rootsweb and/or other sites such as ancestry. I am sure they have heard of this situation many times by now. He sounds like a nut case. I would ignore him. Just remember, anyone can find a lawyer who will take the money to write a letter saying "cease and desist"; it doesn't mean he has a legal stand. Let us know. -----Original Message----- From: Vickie Hale [mailto:mhale@provalue.net] Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2001 10:46 AM To: ELLIOTT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ELLIOTT] Photo question I have a photo of my gg-aunt on my web page and received an E-mail from a man who claims to be her grandson and he says I have to REMOVE the photo at once and he is contacting his lawyer. he said ". I don't know where you got the picture, but you should not go around displaying photos of people without permission from that person or their next of kin. I will be contacting my lawyer tomorrow to see if we can resolve this problem out of court. You will be hearing from me shortly. I suggest you take the photo off of your site as soon as possible." 3. Vickie, I would not delete the website yet, this person that sent you the photocopy must be related to the man that is threatening to sue, so check with her and see. He could be just blowing smoke. Also since you are related and have the picture the person is dead, I do not see how he can do anything about it, only the person who the photo is of can file suit.
