Dana, Do you know in what part of Graves Co., KY your ELLIOTTs settled? My g-grandfather was Thomas Ivey ELLIOTT b. ca late 1860s-early 1870s. Resided near in or near the Farmington community. Can't seem to make any other connection with ELLIOTTS in the general area. There was a connection with the BEAN surname also in the same area. Also assuming a connection with the IVEY surname. This is a brick wall for me, perhaps we can find a connection that will help both of us? Gary
Currently the gatewayed Rootsweb Message Boards (formerly GenConnect Boards) do not identify a board message (as opposed to a regular list message) so when you reply to the message it does not get back to the original poster (who may not be a list subscriber). The Board Staff is working to correct this. Until Message Board posts are correctly identified, I'll be monitoring and forwarding the posts to the list with an identification in the subject line GATEWAY. If you simply "reply", it'll come back to me. Please use "reply to all" and then substitute the original poster's address for my email address. Last Sat. my daughter & I were at our local library, Effingham, IL, Effingham County, and just happened to look at the Family Files that are there [for some reason I never looked at them as I did not think that there would be anything in them about our family as our family was from Cumberland County, IL] WELL, when I pulled out the Elliott file, someone had made a copy of a bible where the family names & birth dates was wrote in. Guess who the bible belonged to, Josiah & Frances Matkins Elliott. The paper copies was dated that it had been copied in 1990 so made a few calls to find who had copied it and where the bible was. The second call gave me the answer as it was found in her daughters attic when they had bought the house in Toledo, IL. I asked where the bible was at now an she said that she had it. So I went down to her home here in Effingham to see it and she said that since it was my g granparents I could have it as it was not any of her family. SO I now have the family bible of Josiah & Frances Matkins Elliott, my g. grandparents. Need I say that I am really happy about it too. Kate Keller Bourland / Effingham,IL

I am searching for information on the ancestors or siblings of Otis ELLIOTT, born about 1785 in New Hampshire, married Hannah BABB about 1808 in New Hampshire, and died after 1863 probably in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Hannah BABB was born about 1787 in Barrington, Strafford, New Hampshire the daughter of William and Jemima DURANT Babb, and died after 1863 probably in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The known children of Otis and Hannah BABB Elliott are sons Charles Otis ELLIOTT (1826-1871) and George W. ELLIOTT (1823-1900). Both sons reported their place of birth as New York and both of them died in Springfield, Bradford, Pennsylvania. Otis and Hannah may have also had a daughter, named Harriet, (1830 - ?) who married to Lorenzo ALLEN of Springfield, Bradford, Pennsylvania. Otis is recorded in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 census records for Springfield Township, Bradford, Pennsylvania but I have no records for the time or place of death, or place of burial, for Otis or his wife, Hannah. Otis reportedly had a brother, named Benjamin ELLIOTT, that married to Nancy BABB. Any information would be much appreciated. Paul Newell Ellicott City, MD

Recently finding a new hope for the parents of my ggggrandfather leads me to a John Elliott Jr. who married a Rebekah Camell, who married on Feb. 13, 1798 in Loudoun Co., Va. John Jr. had a brother named David. John Elliott later shows up in a 1810 census of Trigg Co., Ky. as John Eliot--head of household 2 males and 1 female under age 10 1 male age 16-26 1 male age 26-45 1 female age 26-45 My ggggrandfather Benjamin B. Elliott B. Sept 04, 1801 would have been 9 years of age at this time. Trigg Co. was a part of Christain and Caldwell Co., in this 1810 census. Anyone related or may know of any info. would appreciate hearing from you, will exchange family information, Dana
