She was born in 1800 in Madison Co, KY. She was a well-educated Presbyterian governess. She became governess for the spoiled James Marion "Jimmy" Gentry. The two married in 1824. They had three daughters and three sons. Jane died in 1880 in Morgan Co, IL. Jimmy died nine years later in Bates Co, MO. Can anyone confirm her parents' names and tell me a little more about them? Henry Davenport was their friend prior to Illinois and 3 marriages resulted between their children. Don't know if David Elliott/Betsy Davenport are in any way related.

Cathy; Thank you for your response, and since Lebanon is close to Franklin I'll give you the full dose. My earliest Elliott is Robert b 1750 d 1840. I don't have his wife or location but I read he was a road supervisor for PA. His son was Benjamin b 1775 d 1865, again no wife or location and I have no documentation so they may be wrong. I have his son as John Elliott b 1800 d 1854 PA m Susannah Maxwell. This I am sure of by family records. They had six children, Benjamin, Catherine, George, Susanna, Samuel, and the youngest, Maxwell b 1820-d 1897, m Nancy Angle, my ancestors. Their son John Angle Elliott 1848-1923 m Laura Amanda Gordon. They had nine children, one, Howard was my grandfather. Most of the children b Greencastle, Franklin co PA after the civil war they went to Keokuk IA and later to Jewel co KS Earl H. I am looking for Asa Elliott b. ca 1855. He married Sarah Catherine Simpson on Feb 28, 1880 in Bibb County, AL. I believe he died between 1891 and 1900 as I do not find him on the 1900 census. Family legend has that Asa was a widower with a dtr named Mary who lived with her maternal grandmother. Asa and Sarah had 3 children - Martha m. Joseph Andrew Hallmon, Archibald m. Minnie Creel and Margaret m. Howard Hobson (my line). Margaret was born in 1891. Asa died while his children were young. His body was found in a "skiff" on a mill pond and it is assumed that he died of natural causes. If anyone can help with this family, I would sure appreciate it. I have never been able to find any information on Asa. Thanks, Felicia
