There are a lot of good people out there who are more than happy to help in your quest to find your ancestry. We have all started somewhere in finding our ancestors. At times, it is discouraging but it is also rewarding. I have found ancestors that were in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, lawyers, an ancestor who founded a town in Missouri and my gg grandfather donated land in Iowa for a cemetery where many of mine family is buried. Post your grandmothers name and any other information that you have on her and hopefully, someone can help. Take care.. Tom Elliott

    1. [ELLIOTT] How dear family is
    2. Dear Tim and Roland, I haven't met either one of you, but my heart aches when I read comments that belittle other researchers. I don't know what your past history is and it's not my business, but as an Elliott researcher who only has one Elliott in my database (my third great-grandmother) and who is yearning to make more connections, when I see John Elliott b. 1790 in NC, I get my hopes up. When I read disparaging remarks about another soul, I feel sad. Genealogy is such a challenging endeavor. I've been researching for 45 years now and don't feel I'm any closer to finding the parents of Melvina Elliott b. 1801 probably in North Carolina than I was 44 years ago. I would like your help and the help of everyone on the list. I know I'm not a rocket scientist and I probably make several errors in syntax and punctuation, but I hope that wouldn't stop another researcher from reaching out to help me in this quest. It won't stop me from reaching out to another researcher, either. One of the on-line researchers that I hold most dear cannot spell and ends every sentence with a question mark. She is a highly intelligent person who may have some form of learning disability and the way she writes in no way makes me not want to help her search for her ancestors. After being stranded on the East coast for four days following the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, I can tell you that life is precious. I just hope we can all work together to learn more about our families and that we won't hurt each other in the process. Sincerely, Sue PS Let's work as a family to avoid discouraging persons like in the e-mail below. We all need each other! ==================== I recently subscribed to begin researching the family of my grandmother, a woman I never met.   After reading the emails of Tim Elliott, I'm really not too interesting in learning about the Elliott family.

    3. Sue, You did a great job. I commend you on how you handled this situation! I was very upset when I read that message this morning. It's like I've always said, if someone has information that knocks down your brick wall, you won't care if you have to stand on your head and use a mirror to read it... you will not complain... you will be so excited to have this info. I urge everyone on this list or any list, to treat others as you would want to be treated! Please Tim, can you tell me when you were declared God? I was always taught that He was the only one who could judge. Enough said, back to business. Does anyone out there connect to the eastern shore of Maryland Elliott's? I would love to talk with you! Surnames: Elliot, Scott Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhU.2ACEB/3194 Message Board Post: I have recently purchased "The Elliots: The Story of a Border Clan", and have found it both well-researched and interesting. I have one question, however. The book does not, that I can find, provide any documentary reference to the marriage of Robert 15th of Redheugh and Jean Scott, whom the book refers to as "a beloved sister of the family of Buccleuch", and who married subsequently Gavin Elliot of Baillilie & Stobs. Nor have I been able to find any reference to Jean Scott in any of the Scott material I have looked at, including Keith Scott's "Scott: 1118-1923" and William Fraser's "The History of the Scotts of Buccleuch". Does anyone have any information concerning the ancestry of Jean Scott Elliot Elliot, and her relationship to the family of Scott of Buccleuch?? Jeff Pilchard San Francisco, CA P.S. I descend, if anyone is interested, from Gavin of Brugh through Margaret Elliot Waggaman, one of the daughters of William Elliot the Laceman.

After reading the emails of Tim Elliott, I'm really not too interesting in learning about the Elliott family. --------------41D54B168B7C2ABA8B51E5FC Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="brendads.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Brenda D.
