Surnames: ELLIOTT, BUNCH, JONES, GOODWIN, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhU.2ACEB/3184.1.1.1.1.3 Message Board Post: Tim, Have just seen your posting on the "Origins of the Elliott name in America". I have a poor copy of the first 3 pages of James Dwight Elliott's,"ELLIOTT FAMILY HISTORY", published in Bingingham, NY in 1941. It addresses this subject & was labeled," For Use by the Society Daughters of the American Colonists, New Jersey State Society, 1959-1960. (A/929.2/E463). You should find it quite interesting, if you have not yet viewed it. I am a decendant of the Elliott clan which migrated to NC,(Perquimans Co.) and in 1816 moved on to WayneCo, IN, OH, Etc. I believe 1631 was the year of the first Elliott migration to the U.S.aboard the ship, "Lyon/Lion" which landed in Boston. I'm also among the researchers who believe our Bennet & Leticia (AGGAR) ELIOT's eight children came in 3 or 4 groups. Sorry to say, I have little good documentation - but am always looking for it. I'm past 70 and find the opinions of our ancestor's 'connections' quite interesting.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JhU.2ACEB/3184.1.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Since my line of Elliott's have been in Dorchester Co., Maryland since the late 1600's, I don't think that this would be the origin of the Elliott family in America. Check out the book "Elliott's Island, A Land That Time Forgot" by Freddie T. Waller. There is a lot of info on the early Elliott's. From another researcher I recently heard that her branch went from the Baltimore area to PA to work in the steel mills of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, and are still in Westmoreland Co., PA.
