He was born July 4, 1816, died September 1, 1851 in IL; married Nancy Parker, date and place unknown. One of the four children Hezekiah (my Gr. Grandfather) was born in Terre Haute. I have not been able to find any information on George. It is said that he spelled his last name Elliotte and the 'e' was dropped with my Gr. grandfathers generation. Thanks. Peg

I've really been stumped about Joseph. Do you have any other info on the line that you're working. I haven't been able to get up to Warren County Courthouse since they moved it, back in the summer, They told me the info should be easier to access now that they have more room and updated technology. I'm not sure where you live, but if you're not close, I can check on some things for you my next rip if you want. I probably won't get up there until right after Christmas, it's an all day affair when I go. Stay in touch.......

Elliott. I am estimating him to be born about 1817, but I do not know where. He married Sarah Chivington on Jan 10, 1839 in Warren County Ohio, which is very close to Preble County (one would need to cross part of Butler County or Montgomery County to get form one to the other.) He was my great great grandfather. He was in the Civil War. Two John C. Elliotts fit his profile who enlisted in Ohio. One enlisted in April 1861 at age 44, one enlisted In 1864 at age of 48. Could it be the same person both times? The first was mustered out a few short months after he enlisted, so was the second. I would like very much to know where he came from, but I haven't found a single clue so far. Perhaps if I could actually see some of the records, his birth place would be mentioned. I got my information from the net. Their daughter Eleanor, married a Stephenson in either Warren County or Butler County. They were my mother's grandparents. Eleanor is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio. So are my grandparents and parents. I do not know where John C. is buried. If you have any clues to John C.'s origin, I sure would appreciate it. I just started on the Elliotts yesterday and have worked for about 20 hours getting nowhere. Good luck to both of us.........June Thomas Davis

I have read with interest this thread on James ELLIOTT. I didn't think your James ELLIOTT (b 1799) was connected to our James ELLIOTT (b 1790) BUT the other names you mention are too similar. Our James ELIOTT came from Ireland in 1815, but didn'r settle in the Clarenceville area until 1821. So where was he and his family for that 6 year period? I reading your postings, I believe that our James ELLIOTT and his 2 brothers come to Clarenceville via a maritime /gaspe route. I sure would like to share some info with you as I think together we can piece some details together! Glenn COCKERLINE
