Sandra, I believe that the Daniel Elliott that you are referring to on Rocky Creek in Chester Co., SC, is the son of old Daniel Elliott who was supposedly killed on his porch by the Tories during the Rev. War. I think that most of this Daniel's family went to Preble Co., OH, in the Miami River Valley in the early 1800s. I believe that they then migrated over into Indiana from there. I think that they were ARP Presbyterians and left SC because of the Slavery problem at that time. Good luck Paul

Information from the Bible follows: Inside the front cover is written "William J. Elliott" and "To Byron K. Elliott October 25, 1855" There is also a copy of the Bulletin of the Indianapolis Public Library, vol. IV, No. 10 from November of 1908 tucked inside the front cover. In the family history area, we have the following: "William J. Elliott, second son of James and Margaret Elliott was born August 24, 1809. Mary L. Taylor, eldest daughter of Joseph and Rhoda Taylor was born July 20th, 1813." William J. and Mary L. were married on September 2, 1834. To them were born the following children: Byron K. Elliott b. 4 Sep 1835 Joseph Taylor Elliott b. 24 Jan 1837 Margaret Ann Elliott b. 15 Dec. 1838 d. 29 Jan. 1840 Aged one year, one month, and 13 days. Samuel Wilson Elliott b. 29 Sep 1840 Emma Martha Elliott b. 29 Sep 1842 Florence Caroline Elliott b. 4 Aug 1845 William D. Elliott b. 4 Oct 1849 Mary L. Elliott, wife of William, died 9 Sep 1849, in Hamilton, Ohio, and is buried in Greewood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. Byron K. Elliott married Harriet (Hattie) A. Talbott (b. 21 Mar 1836) on 5 Sep. 1855. Hattie died on 8 Aug 1903 in Indianapolis, Indiana and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. Byron and Hattie had three children, all born in Indianapolis, Indiana. May Harriet Elliott b. 7 Nov 1857 d. 2 Dec 1857 Aged three weeks, four days. His death was caused by a stroke of paralysis which he had suffered Tuesday night. Mr. Elliott was born in Dark County, Ohio, September 18, 1853 and when a babe of three months came to Iowa with his parents, settling at West Liberty. The father for many years was engaged in the blacksmith trade at that place. Forty-one years ago he was united in marriage with Marybelle Holmes, and to this union four children were born, three boys and one girl. One of the children Laura Belle passed away at the age of five years and a second son William Marshall died at the age of 21 years. The surviving children are: J. E. Elliott of 1391 Sherman street and F. L. Elliott of Creston Iowa. His first wife died thirty-one years ago. Mr. Elliott was again married to Mrs. Matilda Terry sixteen years ago, who also survives to mourn his loss. Five grandchildren, Laura Belle Elliott, Edwin Lester, Jeanette, Dorothy, Mary Ellen and Mary Ada Elliott, with two brothers and three sisters also survive. The brothers and sisters are Taylor Elliott of Albion, J. E. Elliott of Downe! y, Mrs. Mollie Johnson of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Belle Elliott of Liscomb and Mrs. Alice Metcalf of Albion. For more than twenty years the deceased has been engaged in the contracting and house building work. No funeral arrangements have been announced. He was in the 1910 Muscatine County Iowa Census as Winfield S. Elliott 56 born IA occupation Housemover, Matilda F. wife 55 born IA and both parents born IA, Oliver stepson 13 born IA.
