    1. [ELLIOTT] Breakthough Arthur Roland Elliott.
    2. Arthur Roland Elliott b 1879 Dayton Washington married to Cora Howorth b 1880 Pomeroy Wa m ca 1900 b, My maternal grandfather has, indeed, parents. Such a simple find, After years of looking for a birth certificate to locate his parents, I found his death notice in the Pendleton Oregon East Oregonian obits, died in 1916, and sent for a death certificate. Now maybe someone can help me. Maybe, you, Roland Elliott. Remember Washington was a territory in 1879 and their were not many records. "Birth Certificate would have been an invasion of privacy" His parents were J.M. Elliott and Matilda Baldwin, both listed as from Indiana. They would have been born in the 1850s I would guess. I am going to work on the Indiana census for 1860. I have a hunch J.M's first name could be Jacob as I find a Jacob Elliott in Dayton Washington in 1880 tried fro murder and cleared as self defense.. How many J Elliotts would there be in Dayton Wa in 1880 on the frontier?

Surnames: ELLIOTT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhU.2ACEB/2868.2874.2871.2 Message Board Post: I am originally from Rich Square, NC, and have an Elliott connection. I too am trying to find out when and how the Elliotts came to the colonies and NC. As you probably know the Elliott name originated in Scotland--probably around Angus Co, then on the Scottish Borders (as per "Scottish Clan and Family Encyclopedia" by Way and Squire). They had trouble with the Stuart clan in the late 1500s and many probably migrated to Ireland and England. The name spellings were Ellot early on, Eliott finally in Scotland, Eliot perhaps in England and Ireland and our Thomas signed his Eliot. My grandmother's Elliott name was really spelled Elliot, as her grandfather (although he signed his wedding certificate with two t's--it was printed with Elliot). Somewhere in time genealogist in NC started using the one spelling Elliott. Web info I have takes Thomas Eliot's line back to the famous John Eliot of Mass., son of Bennet Eliot of the northern part of England. The spellings are similiar. Would like to see that proved or disproved and that still leaves the question of why, when & how did they come to NC. My guesses would be the Quaker connection and the migration route would be by ship from Boston to Edenton, and when Thomas was a young man. Would be glad to share info on the family I have...Al
