In my query re: John Allen Elliott, I forget to put my e-mail address... Judy Elliott Huhman Ahuhman@peakonline.com
I am looking for the parents of John Allen Elliott, born September 3, 1856 in Clark Co., IL. He was the youngest of a family of four boys and one girl. His father died when he was 3 weeks old. (9/1856). John Allen Elliott married Harriet "Hat" Blue. Two of his first cousins, George and Nathan, married Harriet's sisters. This means that his uncle was William H. Elliott, and his Grandfather was Samuel Elliott m. Nancy Jane Lynn. I need the names of his parents and siblings. ANYONE- HELP!!! Judy Elliott Huhman
I'm looking for the family of Edward ELLIOTT/ELLETT b. ca1760, not certain where, but the first records of him were in 1790 Tax lists of KY, compiled and published by Gaius M.Brumbaugh. Edward and Thomas ELLIOTT are listed in Mason Co.,KY. [It is believed that Thomas was a brother to Edward.] It is assumed that this Edward ELLIOTT is the same one who is listed, with Thomas ELLIOTT on the 1798 Poll Tax List of Fleming Co., for Fleming Co. was cut out of Mason County in 1798. Edward came to Monroe Co.IN [bef 1821] and settled in an area which is now known as Elletsville, which was names after him. I desc. from his daughter Sarah m. Daniel ELLIOTT thought to be the son of Thomas ELLIOTT brother of Edward, so here my ELLIOTT/ELLETTlines cross. They lived in Owen Co.IN. If anyone knows more "early" info on Edward or Thomas ELLIOTT/ELLETT N.J.Skinner White vwhite0901@aol.com "Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past." (Deuteronomy 32:7a)
> Edward came to Monroe Co.IN [bef 1821] and settled in an > area which > is now known as Elletsville, which was names after him. Do you have any listing for a Richard H. Elliott? He was believed to be born about 1798 in Kentucky, but was married in Monroe Co, IN about 1823. Could he have been a son of either Edward or Thomas? Richard is my GGgrandfather. We have hit a brick wall regarding his parents/siblings. Thanks for your help, Floyd Stetson (Stet) Elliott Albuquerque, NM flyez@earthlink.net
James T or S born 1845 prob in Essex Co. Believe he had a brother Robert Children: James Norman (1897), Lena, Abbie, Lottie, Malinda, Andrew, Bessie, Bertha, Robert Homer I have collected all census data and other data I can find on Elliott's in these two counties. As well as their relatives through marriage (primarily: Lankford/Langford and Marshall families) Love to share. Ellen
Hello, I am one of those fairly new to the list, but my Elliott's are far back so I don't think I will take it down to the present..., though if anyone wants more because they are connected drop me a line. My Mary "Mollie" Elliott would have been born bet. 1751 and 1760. She married James W. Witherspoon 25 Apr. 1780 at Greencastle, Franklin Co., PA Their children were: John Witherspoon 1781 Mary Witherspoon "Polly" 1783 Margaret Witherspoon 1787 James Witherspoon 1789 Rebecca Witherspoon 1791 Elizabeth Witherspoon 1795 David Witherspoon 1798. Mary Elliott is suppose to be the daughter of (unk) Elliott and Margaret Hamilton. Her father was born c. 1717 and died before 1793. I have been told that his name was James Elliott but I have never been told any documentation. Her siblings were - John Elliott b.c. 1743 - James Elliott b.c. 1745 - Elizabeth Elliott b. c. 1747 sp. Mr. Bogle - Rebecca Elliott b.c. 1749 sp. Mr. Scott - Jenny Elliott b.c. 1753 sp. John White. The names come from the will of their mother Margaret who also indicates that she was a long time resident of Guilford Twp., presently Franklin Co., pro. was Cumberland Co., PA. I have heard it speculated that Mary's father was a brother of John Elliott of Fannett Twp., Carlisle, Cumberland Co., PA. I am interested in any information connecting to this Elliott family. I descend from David Witherspoon and Massie Ann Carothers. Other surnames in area which I am interested in - Clark - Wilson - Wallace - Fitzgerald - Witherspoon - Elliott - Carothers - Patterson - Neely - Hamilton - White - Park - Duffield. Thanks - Ann
My line is through Abraham Elliott, his father Jeremiah - son of Abraham Elliott, Jr. and Ruth Fields. Abraham Elliott, Jr. was the son of Abraham Elliott, Sr. and Priscilla Foulke. Abraham Elliott, Sr. was the son of John Elliott and Sarah Unk. I have been trying so hard to find out names of siblings of my g-g-grandfather Abraham, as well as siblings of his father Jeremiah. Can anyone help? Write me at JANJFrost@aol.com Also, Jeremiah and Margaret moved to MO (St. Genevieve County) from Randolph County, NC. Jeremiah died prior to the 1850 census. I have been trying to find out the date he died, where he is buried...I am assuming in St. Genevieve County. Also, possibly some of his siblings moved along with him and Margaret....or at least some of their children should be there. So far have come up with nothing. I have the names of 2 of their sons: My Abraham and a brother born about 1835 or 36 in NC named Docton. Help! Help! Help!
My Elliott is Jane, born in 1800 in Madison, KY. She was a well educated governess of Scottish-Presbyterian descent with "golden dark auburn hair, brown eyes". She apparently had her own horse which she rode to the various houses of the children she taught. One researcher suggests that her parents may have been John and Virginia Elliott but I have seen nothing to substantiate this. Jane married on 6 May 1824, Madison, KY to James M. Gentry (b. 27 Oct 1804 Virginia, d. 1889 Butler, Bates, MO). The marriage took place without the knowledge of the Senior Gentry. James was the eldest and very spoiled son of John P (son of Moses) Gentry. She had been his/the family's governess (she was only 4 years his senior). James in a fit of anger towards his father for freeing his slaves, decided to leave home and asked Jane to come with him. After their 1st four children were born they moved to Illinois near the home of a former acquaintance, Henry Davenport. Two Davenport boys married 2 of their girls, John Milton Gentry (my line) married Angeline Davenport. Jane died Jan 1880 and is buried in the Little Sandy Graveyard in Morgan, IL.
Gosh! How very exciting! This is my line also. I am descended from Abraham Elliott, son of John Elliott and Sarah Unk. Then from Abraham Elliott, Jr. My information says that Abraham Elliott, Jr. married Ruth Fields. They had a son, Jeremiah who married Margaret Allred Elliott, in Randolph County, NC in 1806. I have been trying to find out the names of Jeremiah's siblings and "Did they all move on to Missouri or did some of them stay in NC. Jeremiah and Margaret had a son named Abraham (my g-g-grandfather, born 1831 NC, died 1901, Texas County, MO). I only have the name of one brother of this Abraham -- Docton, b. abt. 1835-36 NC. I need names of other siblings. I am getting so excited. Some of the descendents moved westward to OK, NM, UT, WA, some into Texas. One was an Indian Agent for years. Do you have any other information on the siblings of your Joseph Elliott, (b. 1780)? I would be so grateful! JANJFrost@aol.com
I have been told of an Elliott in my line who had an Indian wife , but know nothing else about it . Judi
My Elliotts are from Butler , Pa, 1840 was in the range of my Great-Grandmother's birth, she was 40yrs old when she died in 1910, Her father was James Elliott, my Great Great Grandfather, so I doubt it could be your James. Thank you Judi

My elusive ancestor is Jonathan Elliott, b. 1804 in Chester Co., SC. I have been looking for his parents and siblings for years with no result. Jonathan was in Perry Co., AL by 1830 where he married Eliza McCain, daughter of Thomas and Sophia Sterling McCain. Jonathan Elliott moved from Perry Co. to Itawamba Co., MS, then to Claiborne Parish, LA and finally to Columbia Co., AR where he died in 1872. Does anyone have Elliotts in Chester Co., SC and/or Perry Co., AL? Sandra
Kim, My Mother was adopted in 1930 and we've been through all the adoption stuff. Your grandfather's birth certificate would have his adopted parents information on it, NOT his birth parents. Some people who were adopted had the original birth certificate with the birth parents names on it, but those were almost always sealed by the courts and you have to apply to the county in which the adoption was to get it unsealed (this varies from state to state). Please email me with what all you know about your Grandfather's adoption and maybe we can figure something out. We found my Mother's birth family without having their names and found her birth sister after they were separated 69 years (adopted by different families). So it is very possible to find out more. Abraham Elliott married Priscilla Foulke about 1753 and in 1764 with eight children listed with them, left Warrington Monthly Meeting, York Co., NC and removed to Cane Creek Monthly Meeting on the 14th day of the 7th month, 1764. (they were Quakers) (Winslow, History of Periquiman's Co. NC., page 344) Sometime between 1765-1774 Priscilla died because in 1774 Abraham married Sarah Pike Piggott. Abraham died in 1808, and named our direct ancestor Abraham Jr. in his will. I do not have an exact date that Abraham Sr. was born. Do you? I would surely appreciate it if you would share it with me and the list...along with your account of your Elliott line. Thank you, Sue Palmer~Elliott ô¿ô An Okie in Texas.....
