    3. Vera, My Elliott line that includes Abraham and Jacob Elliott and at least one other sibling named Benjamin were sons of John Elliott (not my research....I have only proved my line to Jacob) were definitely Quaker! Here is what my data base says: > Settled near Philadelphia. Places of residence are W. Nottingham and > Sadsbury-1732. > > I show in one of my Quaker databases that John Elliott, b.ca.1700, & wife > Sarah had at least three sons. > > Abraham Elliott, b.ca.1725, Chester co,PA; d.ca.1808, Randolph co,NC > marr.1: abt 1754 to Priscilla Foulke > marr.2: 11 Aug 1774, Cane Creek MM,NC, to Mrs Sarah (Pike) > Piggott; > widow of William > Piggott (1726-1770) > Jacob Elliott, b.ca.1728, Chester co,PA > marr. ca.1751. Lancaster co,PA, to Elizabeth ---- (c1733-1791) > Benjamin Elliott, b.ca.1730, Chester co,PA; d.15 Feb 1803 > marr. ca.1749, York co,PA, to Ann Wall I have other information about this family....but nothing about Washington Co. Pa. However, when I look at the map of Pennsyvania, I think that probably some of the descendents of this John Elliott may have moved in that direction. I only know about the two brothers, Abraham and Jacob moving south to Rowan County, NC in the mid 1700's. I think that other siblings remained in Pennsylvania and that some of their children/grandchildren moved to western Pa and into Ohio and Indiana directly from Old Chester County area of Pennsylvania. I do have more, but it is not very organized and it is not my own research, so I hesitate to type it into the archives. I am happy to share anything that I have, however, as long as everyone understands that I have not proved it. 3. My ancestors were Quakers. Mine moved to Perquimanns County NC and then most moved north.. First to Ohio, then Illinois and settled in Iowa. I have heard that my GGG grandfather was a big poo-bah in the Quaker church, but I'm not positive. I know that my gg grandfather was involved in it in Illinois. A house that my gg grandfather built (supposedly with help from the other Quakers) still stands today and is occupied by a distant cousin. 3. Roland, would you please explain the below to me. First, is it your belief that my Jacob Elliott and his brother Abraham Elliott who moved to Rowan County NC in the mid 1700's is a brother to your Benjamin who remained in Chester County, PA? And second, does your assumption match my guess that their ancestors were probably Scotch Irish and before that Border Rievers in Scotland? And how does your DNA validate those assumptions? I am just beginning my research on the Elliotts in Pennsylvania as it took me years to sort out the Abraham Elliotts in NC....I am interested in knowing if my theories that I hope to eventually prove are sensible. 3. hmmmm I have a whole bunch of Quakers in this Elliott family too but named Moffitt/Davis/Cox...ok here we go more similar names...they were Oh Parker too, I think the Parker is the only NC Quaker the rest were in IN. Although I do not know much about the Moffitts... email me off list about this stuff if you'd like or if you have similar names.. :) vera Tom Elliott <[email protected]> wrote: My ancestors were Quakers. 3. I was doing some reading yesterday and wonder ....were those guys Quakers? did they come from Washington Co, PA? If so then let me know I'll post a link to some info I THINK on them...I am kinda nutty right now cuz I'm home alone for the weekend doing genealogy research..gack..my eyes are glazed over.. vera Tom Elliott <[email protected]> wrote: I had heard that someone in the Elliot Clan Society was attempting to do that. Hadn't heard anything about it in a long time though. When my brother was alive, he was a Commissioner for Texas and Oklahoma and he told me about it. I have also seen some references to it on this list. But being an old skeptic I would be afraid of the validity of some of the data that they receive! When my brother tried to explain it, he said that someone was going to check the validity of the data.
