Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhU.2ACEB/3299.1.1.1 Message Board Post: That's very generous of you. I appreciate it. I have mainly concentrated my research in Chesterfield County but a dear friend from Kershaw County had a great grandfather, John Polson, who married Martha Elliott. I've been trying to get this Polson info for her. I have been to the cemetery where Martha and her granddaughter are buried. John Polson, Martha's husband, committed suicide in the early 1900s and I've been trying to find out info about him. Was your Martha Elliott's father named William Elliott? Also, I remember seeing the McLaine name on a land conveyance index. I can send the land info and acreage if you like. I'm away from my source material at present. Can you tell me anything else about the Elliotts settling in Kershaw County or anything else about their family history? It might give me a clue as to which family the Polson I'm researching is from. Thanks, Norma

Surnames: Elliott, Berry, Wilburn, Randall, Bailey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhU.2ACEB/4694 Message Board Post: There is a family in Panola County TX in the 1850 Census: Elliott, Jno. 60 M W NC (b, 1790) Farmer Susan 60 F W VA Nancy 18 F W MO (b. 1832) Robt 17 M W MO (b 1833) This looks to be a larger, at one time, family with the last of the children still living with them. Wonder who the older children were? Does anyone have any informatio on them? Evidently, John and Susan started out from the eastern US and went westward, stayed awhile in MO and going on to Texas. I am trying to tie them into a William K. Elliott (1817) and maybe James F. (about 1820) since they would have to have come across TN where William and a Mary was born according to the Panola County Censuses. Mary was staying with James' family after he died in the 1870 and was age 40. James was supposedly born in AL. William m. Laura Gratsy Birdsong in Fayette Co, TN in 1836. Laura was b in Marengo County AL. They sure got around back then. Let me know if you have anything please.
