I just learned that she came to the US before 1910, as her brother James (a blacksmith) came to visit her and arrived on July 3, 1910 in Boston. Margaret was living in Newton Highlands, MA at the time he arrived. Margaret was born May 27, 1883 in Drumawark/Pettigo, County Donegal to James Elliott and Janet Jane Jameson. Her given name was Mary Margaret, but she apparently went by Margaret. I have traced the family to Pettigo, Ireland. Thank you for your help. When he entered service he gave Muscogee County, GA as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Soldier: SHELBY F ELLIOTT Born: September 2, 1931, Caucasian Date of loss: November 30, 1950, KIA When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Elliott family is one of those missing. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency. I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family. I am trying to locate death date and place of my gr. gr. gr.Uncle and his wife. Clark S. ELLIOTT14 Mar 1843. Clinton, MO-After 1888 Clinton, MO, & Sarah either E or S. Jun 1849 MO-After 1900 Clinton, MO (Maiden name unknown). Clark S and Sarah S ELLIOTT with family were in West 1/2 of Platte Township, Clinton Co., Missouri on 1880 census. On the1900 Census of Lafayette Twsp, Clinton Co. Missouri, Sarah E and some of their Children plus a 6 yr old Gr.-son LeRoy ROCKWELL. Sarah was shown as a Widow owning a mortgage free farm. Youngest son b. in 1888. Then in 1910 the 2 youngest sons ages 26 and 22 and the 16 yr old gr-son now shown as Roy ELLIOTT were shown living by them selves and as Brothers on and as owner partners in a mortgage free farm.I am guessing Sarah as being dead and they inheirted her farm. I can be missreading Sarah's middle initial on either census, Will appreciate any help. Dora

Jane, Thank you very much for the information you provided. Sorry it took me a couple of days, but I wanted to share this information with my brother who has met one of the sisters mentioned below. You are not related to me (my grandmother was an Elliott born in Ireland), but I did look up Carolyn on ancestry.com. The 1930 census shows that her mother was a widow by then with four young daughters and that they lived on West Main Street. Her sisters were Ruth, Justine & Gertrude. That area of Norwich now has many stores in it and runs along the Thames River, probably looks very different than 1930. - Jane Dixon Anderson >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [Elliott] Carolyn Arnold Elliott >Date: 30 Nov 2006 09:25:07 -0700 > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Surnames: Elliott, Mullin, Madison (aka Maddison) >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JhU.2ACEB/6614 > >Message Board Post: > >first attempt - Looking for ANY information about my maternal grandmother's >family. >This is what I have: >Carolyn Arnold Elliott - dob: 04-10-1924, Norwich, CT, USA, >died about 1990 (don't have info at the moment), 1st marriage to 'Gaines' >(unknown), 2nd marriage to Leo Aonno Mullin - dob: 5-3-1918, Bethelhem, >IA, USA, died about 1989 (again info not on me at the moment). >Carolyn's parents: father - Joseph Arnold Elliott, mother - Mary Elizabeth >Parks (dob - 07-08-1880). >Children: Anne & Valerie Susan (dob - 01-18-1950). > >Thanks, Margot > > > > >~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >To contact the ELLIOTT list administrator, send an email to >[email protected] > >To post a message to the ELLIOTT mailing list, send an email to >[email protected] > > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >[email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes >in the subject and the body of the message ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To contact the ELLIOTT list administrator, send an email to [email protected] To post a message to the ELLIOTT mailing list, send an email to [email protected] ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
