The only possibility would be possibly if your Robert Thomas was the son of my Benjamin's brother Robert who left TN and moved back to NC in early 1800's. It has been handed down that he was never heard of after he left to go back to NC. Could be a coincidence that his son's wife might have tried to find my Benjamin's family. We need to purdue this to see if anything comes from it. Duane

My great grandfather was Robert Thomas (RT) Elliott, born in North Carolina. I think he was born Jan 30, 1828 in Montgomery Co. (central NC about 60 mi. NE of Charlotte) near the town of Troy. His wife was Mary Ann Rowlett. His siblings were probably Stephan S, Mary, Samuel S, Alexander, Dave ?, Marion, possibly others (all born in NC) and Benjamin Elliott born in Tenn. RT's mother was Francis (or Frances) Elliott born in NC (maidem name Frasier). Her husband, my gg-gf Elliott whose given name I do not know, was apparently killed in a duel with his brother in early 1830s when they were living in SW No. Carolina, possibly near Saluda (Hendersonville area) in Henderson Co. (SE of Asheville). My first firm information was in the 1860 census when RT, his mother, brother - Samuel S. and others were in NW Tenn., City of Dresden, in Weakly Co. We have heard that Francis (the widow) walked to Tenn with her kids whike she was pregnant with Benjamin and with all their belongings in an oxcart, we suppose she had relatives in Tenn. that she wanted to be near. By the 1880 census RT Elliott was in Blue Grove (Clay Co.) Texas (North East Tx - North of Fort Worth) with his family and he died there in 1907. Do you know anything about this branch of Elliotts ?? I am 77, retired and live in Dallas, Tx. Thanks - Dick Elliott

Wow Chuck, its so tempting...My Thomas was born about 1757 sooo it would have been hard for Andrew to be his Brother possibly his nephew..although Thomas has a son born 1806....My Andrew would have been born about 1759..is the date I have... Thomas' childrens names were Simon, William, John, Thomas (b1806), Andrew, Charles, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth. He married Margaret Elliott. I have it that he lived in Washington County, PA when they arrived...but that was a huge county then. He had kids from about 1789 on thru 1810... so I agree the names are pretty similar especially in that there are very few other Elliott families that have Charles' in the family...interesting and combined with the William, Thomas and Andrew's hmmmm interesting.. :) My Elliotts ended in Wayne county OH also about 1819. I knew about the other Elliott family but didn't know if there was a connection...Thomas' son Andrew went there about 1819 to 1830? can't remember when but could find out...That is where the family farm is/was...he is buried in Rittman, OH. So do you have any family connection to Lee's or Stewarts/Stuarts? Stones, Cunninghams? Do you have any info about where Andrew came from in Ireland or when? thanks Chuck...interesting.. :) vera Charles Elliott <[email protected]> wrote: This is in reply to the message from V Hurst. See if any of these names fit. My GGGgrandfather was Thomas ELLIOTT, born 06 January 1807 somewhere in PA (possibly York County). Thomas emigrated to OH about 1823. He married Ann POYSER on 14 August 1828. They moved from Stark County, OH, to LaGrange and Elkhart County, IN, about 1843. He and Ann are buried at Middlebury, IN. We believe Thomas' father was named Andrew ELLIOTT, married to Elizabeth UNKNOWN. In addition to my Thomas, this Andrew and his wife had offspring named Charles, Fanny, Nancy (both of whom married DOTY brothers), Nolan (b.ca 1800), Andrew (b.ca 1800-1810) and William B. (b.1804). Andrew, Sr. had died by 1823 when his widow and children went to Wayne and Stark counties, OH. If my Andrew is a brother of your Thomas and William, the repetition of the names in the next generation makes sense. My Andrew would have been born 1770 to 1780. The PA census is very hard to pin down in 1800, 1810 and 1820. If anyone has some further data for that period, please advise. Okay here i go again... :) I am looking for Elliotts related to a Thomas Elliott who came from Washington Co PA about 1790ish he was in Steubenville, OH by 1800 arrived PA about 1787 ish...He came with brothers William and Andrew. I can't find them and can't find him connected to any Elliotts anywhere. I don't know that he actually came WITH them just that he had brothers named thus. And he did spend 10 years in PA that are unaccounted for. The story was that he did not have much to do with brothers due to long distance away from them. Does anyone from the Butler Elliotts have anything that might help? Anyone have an Andrew from/in PA/WVA born mid 1700's? Anyone have a William older? sigh :) (Thomas was married to Margaret related to the Faithful Steward Elliotts who did locate in Choschoton? brother William) "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
