I know he moved around a lot and last lived in Florida. He was born Aug 25, 1919 to Herbert and Mabel Elliott in Webster or Dudley, Mass. He has older siblings which are, Eunice, Ellsworth and Vernon and younger siblings, Myrtice and Kenneth. Anyone with any information , please contact me. thank you very much.
I have not gotten far back into my Elliott line- only to the mid 1800s. My family lived in Southeastern virginia in the region called the Albemarle region which is the current northeastern North Carolina. My Grandmother was born in about 1870 in what is now Perquimans County. She was named Lillie Belle Elliott .( After she married Joseph Thomas Brinn she changed the spelling of her name to Lilliebelle Elliott so that she could keep her entire name,) Her father was Humphrey Jack (or John Humphrey) Elliot who was the son of Richard Elliott and ?. ( I believe Richard's 2nd wife was named Martha. "Grandaddy Dick" and "Aunt Martha" raised Grandmama Lilliebelle. The mother of Lillie Belle was Arabella Virginia Winslow- the daughter of Timothy A Winslow and Martha A Cofield. Arabella Virginia was born in 1854 and died in 1881 when Grandmother was about 5 years old. Arabella was supposedly married three times in her short 27 years. Richard Elliott was her second husband, and he died in the mid 1870s. I have found husband #3- Andrew Proctor, but I can't find husband #1.( He may also have been a Winslow.) maybe you can see why I haven't gotten back very far through this confusing jumble- Elliott or Winslow. Can anyone help this old lady?
Would suggest you read the book, "The Elliots, The Story of the Border Clan", by The Dowager Lady Eliott of Stobs & Sir Arthur Eliott 11th Baronet of Stobs. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 03, 2007 12:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Elliott] William Elliott born 1805 in athlone. - Scottish? My name is Karen Truempy. I am also interested in the Elliot line, and thought I would write since you mentioned that they were supposed to be decended from a Minto line. My late mother-in-law was a Minto, and her Minto line goes back to 1825 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, England. My husband remembers hearing that the Mintos were related to the Earls of Minto (the Elliots) but I haven't been able to find any proof of this. I was wondering if you might have any info on the subject. Thanks! I''m working on tons of lines lol I find anyone even remotely connected to me and run with it. The Elliotts are my stepdad's ancestors which i just started working on. William married an Ann whose surname i don't yet know. their child Cordelia married Henry Rotherham (from Kent, and Middlesex so far). Their child Winifred came over to the US and married Frank Crowley (Boston for him, father from Maine, then Ireland before that.) Their son Edward married Cecelia Hounsell (lines direct from England with her father). Their son Edward married me mum Cynthia Edwards just a few years back. They have no natural children, just me and the felines. :D As for lines I'm searching in my family. oh my. lots. i'm only about halfway through reentering all my info into the computer and i have about 2200 individuals and about 640 surnames. though that includes everyone entered so far, not jsut the direct lines. I had taken a couple years off of research, now I'm diving back in head first. and having a heck of a time learning about British records. my old website, severely outdated, gives a rough idea of those i had at the time. http://branches.fieryangel.net/leaves i think it is. (it's in my sig too). It gives alot of the ancestors on my mothers Edwards side and my fathers Batchelder side. most are in Massachusetts all the way back to Mayflower-1700s at latest. but some are fairly fresh out of England (Beal, Coles and more) and Canada (D'entremont, Edwards, bertrand, McKinlay). I also have a tree up on Ancestry form ages ago but I dont know how accurate it is either. I'm waiting til i have all my binders of family group sheets entered and more sources record before I up the more recent stuff up there. Though i may go on and put up my Step-fathers line, in hopes of connecting to others. I'm still thinking on it. I've only been searching it a month about, so I don't have a terrible lot just yet. Also the names Robert Thomas and Benjamin in my family as well as yours make a very strong probability of a tie between us. Samuel is also a very common name in my family, my grandfather, his uncle and his great uncle all had that name as well as my uncle. Dick Elliott
