PA in 1750-1792, probably listed as Welsh Run, PA. I have the Palmer Papers file on the Elliotts and Mr. Palmer listed George as the brother to Benjamin Rogers and stepbrother to James Barnett. He has in his notes that George probably had two grown children who were away from home in 1803 when he died and left the minor children as orphans. I am interested in the names of the two oldest children who were out of the household by 1800 but were counted in the 1790 Census. Mr. Palmer conjectured that the oldest son was John Elliott, b 1776 in Welsh Run (and frequently listed as Benjamin's son). Some care is needed as there is a John Elliott (b. 1776) to William Elliott, Esq. of Path Valley, PA and this is a different John. Any help with references would be appreciated. I checked wills in Chambersburg, PA. but did not come across George Elliott's will in the microfiche. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Dora Lou I live in Lebanon, MO (Laclede County). There is a city named Clinton about an hour away from me. I know of no Clinton County, MO. Please check your information. My grandmother was the daughter of John Edward Elliott. He and his wife Mae Rose Hines were married in Clinton. When my grandmother was a little girl she lived in Clinton (actually Larue which was a little settlement near Clinton) with her grandmother Grimes after her mother Mae Rose had died. John Edward remarried, then he took his 3 little girls and moved to various places, including a little settlement called Handley in Dallas County, MO and lived in Oklahoma, New Mexico....wherever his wanderlust took him. He had several more children with his 2nd wife. Do check out your information of the name of your county or town. There is a Shadrack and Robeson Elliott there that may have a relationship to my Elias Elliott. He was a carpenter, married in 1842 to Sarah,a daughter of Solomon and Amelia Sparkman Stone possibly of Perquimans and Bertie Co. N. C., prior to Preble Co. OH. Elias died December 1844, after the birth of my Grt. Grt. Grandfather William Clinton Elliott January of the same year. The estate record of Elias includes a Joseph, Nathaniel, and Jesse Elliott. I assume Jesse is the father of Nathaniel, since he is found living with him later at the age of 78. Also in Preble, are a Chalkly(various spellings on census)and Lavina(maybe Robeson?)Elliott. 3. I've not been following this thread but Sangamon Cty, IL was were Simon Elliott lived i think...maybe you've pointed that out but....I guess by that time there were a LOT of Elliotts over here but I find it odd often that unrelated families with same names just go somewhere out of the blue suddenly to settle...makes me wanna go hmmmmm... I am fairly certain that the KY/TN Elliotts weren't related to the OH Elliotts..if others have different info PLEASE let me know as I have not followed a lot of the offshoots of my early Elliotts so they could have gone to KY/TN. Also I am still hunting my Andrew and William'.... Simon was brother of William of the shipwreck Elliotts...I THINK and I just am not looking it up relying on memory...that William's son Simon? wrote the Elliott book ...correct me if I am wrong... just sayin' :) good luck, I checked my database and I have no McKinney's sorry..
