I have been to the cemetery a few times, but can never rmember the name of it. I think I am going to have to break down and ask my grandmother to tell me what she knows. Unfortunately, my granmother and I don't get along well and I have been trying to do this without having to contact her. I know Gram was born in Jackson in 1928 and lived there off and on throughout her life. I would laugh if come to find out we were somehow related! Gram will be back in Jackson this summer and I will see about talking to her. I will make my Dad go with to be the mediator. If and when I find out more, I will post an update. Thanks again. There definitely is a St. John's Cemetery. St. John's is one of the two largest Catholic Churches in Jackson County; St. Mary's the other. There also was a St. Joseph's but it was much smaller and I don't recall them having a cemetery. The "Yellow Pages" list a St. John's Cemetery but not a St. Joseph's. If, in your Kentucky research you come across a James Elliott who was supposed to have gone to Kentucky about 1810 and may be the father of my 3rd great grandfather George Elliott who married Elizabeth Henry in Mifflin Co. Pa. in 1806 and then settle in Clarion Co. Pa. about 1825, please contact me I have hit a brick wall concerning George's parents. He came from Ireland as a boy in 1792. 1. [Elliott] An exciting project - you can help
    2. ~Love is the Answer~
    3. Tip of the Month: FamilySearch Indexing I'm sure most folks who have done even a little bit of genealogy/family history know (or have heard) of the large collection of genealogy records held by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). The LDS Church has been very busy digitizing those records (over 2 million rolls of microfilm) and others. These records will eventually be made available for free online, but what good will digitized records be if you can't find any of the information on them? That's where you come in. FamilySearch Indexing is a massive project designed to create indexes for all of these records, and you are invited to help. You can do this from the privacy of your home (sitting in your pajamas if you want), and it is really quite easy. Simply visit: http://www.FamilySearchIndexing.org to find out more information, or to volunteer. Various other organizations are also involved, including NEHGS, the Ohio Genealogical Society, the Indiana Genealogical Society, and the Black History Museum and Cultural Center. The sooner these records are indexed, the sooner they will be available for all of us to use for free, so if you have a little spare time, or if you have friends or family who would like to help, visit the website above to volunteer.

    3. The DNA Factor New DNA services can take you further back than records. With a cheek swab you can trace your genetic connection to ethnic groups worldwide (dnatribes.com, $200) National Geographic's Genographic Project ($100), will tell you the migration route your ancestors took thousands of years ago, and men can learn from dnaancestryproject.com ($200 for advanced testing) if they are descended from Genghis Khan (8% of Asian men) or Niall Noigiallach, king of Ireland(2% of New York Irishmen). (article from Hallmark Magazine May/June 07 issue. My husband had great information and he used The Family Tree Archives for a lot of his information. I have not commenced the data as he did (deceased Jun05) but I have been monitoring his account and keeping the data that pertains to our family members. He had over 18,000 names and entry data and it was building quite nicely but I have been slow getting back into the process other than monitoring his incoming messages. Every summer he and I would hit the road to the states that he needed confirmation, and all the cemetery's, Historical Societies of those towns. He did have his DNA processed and it was amazing the data received after his DNA test were completed.
