Hi, I have had this letter regarding Terewai Grace Elkington and her husband Taare Waitara Charles [Savantis} an d I wondered if any of our New Zealand Members could help out. Regards Judy Elkington. ~~~~~ Kia Ora I am a decendent of Taare Waitara (he was brothers with my great grandfather six generations back) and with respect I was wanting to find out why his surname has been incorrectly spelt as Savantis?. This of course is not the first time the name has been spelt incorrectly in fact most authors prefer to omit any mention of Taare's father instead preferring to write about his mother Hana. Taare's fathers name is also incorrect in several publications etc and it has been difficult to link Taare to his dad until now. I am currently researching my whakapapa and I am excited at the prospect of meeting/contacting people who have information on my whanau and would much appreciate any contact from the elkington whanau who are interested in sharing information about whanau.
