Hi Judy I find that alternating Letters and numbers (like UK postcodes but longer) works in such cases. Thus I have 4 brothers born 1633-47 Edward Thomas John and George I call them Branch A, Branch B? Branch C Branch D Branch D splits?4 ways with?4 brothers who found branches 4A 4B? 4C? 4D 4A splits 3 ways into 4Ai? 4Aii? 4aiii? (using roman numerals for the second occurrence of a number, easier on the eye) then a further split into: Branches ?4Aia?? 4Aib? etc (small letter for second occurrence of letter ) If you want to preserve the Warwickshire bit as an aide-memoire, you could use WA1, WA2 etc? It beats those awful ahnentaffels that the commercial progammes offer us, anyway. Each name has the date of birth and county of birth attached but should I carry on with the note Warwickshire Branch 1 or Warwickshire Branch 11 also to show where they originated from. If they go to Australia, Canada or New Zealand or other country, I have given them the btitle of, for example, Warwick Shire Branch I Canadian Branch I.
