I think AEHElkington's explanation is easier to follow although I do have a copy of the Domesday book. It is thought that the Lincolnshire Villages of North and South Elkington came later than Elkington in Northants. You will find an abbreviated version on my profile site at the Goons which looks at the earliest recorded versions.. _www.one-name.org/profiles/elkington.html_ (http://www.one-name.org/profiles/elkington.html) I was hoping for some further information by contacting the SLHS but they know nomore than what they wrote to me. I hoped that some of the Elkington families from Lincolnshire may hold a clue but so far no answers. JUDY ELKINGTON [N.
