Hi Judy Yes it is quite correct that there were Elkingtons in the Birmingham area who were involved in the gold business. They had a factory in Newham(?)Street, in Birmingham. In my research into my family tree there are distant links to my great Grandmother but not close enough that I have any information that would be of use. I am currently in Cairo and my paper information is all at home but I will look on my laptop and see if there is anything there of use. The Elkington family in Birmingham who were involved in the electroplating ( I thought mainly silver) were well known. Sorry I can't help any more than this, I know my great grandfather's father was a jeweller, but he was in Banbury by then.
