Hi Alan, Firstly Tom Elkington married Emily Cluett in 1869 and she died in 1889 having given him two sons, Alfred Day Elkington b.1872 and Thomas Samuel William b.1876. He the married Emily Davis in 1890. They had no children and the entry you are referring to is his second wife whose mother was living with her. There are two Elkington Older's, Charles born in Mile En d, London in the Mar. Qtr. 1862 Mile End.1c 569 There is also a George Elkington Older born Mar.Qtr. 1894 Stepney 1c 455. You could send for these certificates to have a look at the parents. They were probably named for the Doctor who delivered them, a close family friend and not necessarily after a putative father. I would suggest that you go back over the Older family tree which could produce better ev idence. I have no Older marrying into my records which go back to 1505.
